SENIOR SPECIALIST: IMPACT MANAGEMENT 
DEPARTMENT: Environmental & Infrastructure Services Department 
BRANCH: Impact Management & Compliance Monitoring 
DESIGNATION: Senior Specialist: Impact Management 
REMUNERATION: R42 403,58 – R56 658,80 – R70 918,51pm (basic salary, excluding benefits) 
LOCATION: 118 Jorissen Street, Traduna House, Braamfontein 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
• Degree in Environmental Management or equivalent qualification in closely related disciplines/programmes including Environmental management, Environmental Sciences, Conservation Management (NQF level 7); 
• 5 - 7 years previous experience within the related field (Government regulatory services, consulting or academic institutional environment); 
• Candidates are expected to have a basic environmental knowledge related to environmental impact management processes, environmental planning as well as environmental legislation and policies. 
 
Primary Function:
Provide a professional service to the Sub-Head, Department, and the public in the review of development proposals and/or applications relating to land use in order to ensure adherence to environmental policies, principles and standards, protection of unique environmental assets, and the promotion of sustainability and environmental quality. 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Full integration and mainstreaming of environmental issues in order to ensure resource conservation and protection including the promotion of liveable environments; 
• Efficient and effective review of land use management applications; 
• Efficient and effective review of environmental authorization related applications; 
• Improvement of sub-unit work processes, implementation of decision support tools (systems) and customer focus; 
• Effective performance management and personal development. 
 
Leading Competencies: 
• Application of Law; 
• Excellent communication and coordinating skills; 
• Computer literacy including MS Office Applications; 
• Accountability; 
• High level of confidentiality and organisational skills; 
• Time Management, working independently, under pressure and ability to prioritise.

• Understanding of Local Government and legislation governing environment management;
• Knowledge of town or urban planning processes; 
• Word processing and research;

• Impact and Influence according to City’s protocols, legislation, and standards.
