Minimum Requirements
• B Degree in Law or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
• Good communication and interpretation skills
• Report writing skills
• Negotiation skills
• Analytical skills
• Computer literacy
• 5 - 8 years' experience as a Legal Advisor in a public institution
 
Core Responsibilities
• Provide legal advice in order to ensure compliance with legal requirements
• Provide procedural advice in order to ensure compliance with the Rules and Orders
• Enhance procedural capacity in order to ensure consistency with the application of rulings
• Attend to claims instituted by and against the Department in order to protect the interests of Council
• Draft legal documents in order to ensure legally sound legal documents
• Provide advice in respect of legislative compliance in order to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
• Provide management support in order to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the division

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract as per Council resolution.

Minimum Requirements:
  • B. Admin, B. Public Admin, B. Com or Relevant Equivalent NQF Level 7 Qualification.
  • 8 Years relevant Management Experience of which at least 4 Years must have been at Senior management level
  • NQF Level 5 Finance Management Qualification (MFMA) in terms of National Treasury Requirements will serve as an Advantage
  • Post Graduate Degree in Governance and Compliance will serve as an Advantage
 
Core Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic capability and leadership
  • Implement department strategy and goals through development, alignment and implementation of department practices, and standards
  • Guide and lead the division's staff members in ensuring effective and efficient support services across the department
  • Implement good governance, and apply risk knowledge and skills within the parameters of prescribed regulatory and best practice framework for good corporate governance
  • Implement operational financial management strategy to ensure compliance with financials controls as contemplated in the MFMA.
  • Ensure customer service orientation, by meeting expectations and requirements of customers.
  • Optimize human capital through integrating and optimizing functional activities, processes, or systems acroos the internal value chain.
