About the appointment
Nature of appointment: Permanent Academic 
Minimum salary scale (Total Cost to Company):  R 654 176 per annum (2023 Salary Scales to be determined) 
Note: CUT applies an internal parity model to determine remuneration that complies with the principle of “equal pay for work of equal value”. Accordingly, the preferred candidate may expect an offer that is in line with their qualifications and years of similar experience. What are we looking for?
Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience 
• A relevant Master’s-level degree (i.e. M Tech / Masters / NQF 9 or equivalent) 
• At least two years’ teaching/lecturing/industry experience relevant to the subject field(s) 
• Must have obtained a CIDESCO qualification and have experience within the Somatology and Holistic/Wellness treatment field. 
• An Average of 70% or above in the highest degree
 
Desired Qualification, Knowledge and/or Experience 
• Evidence of progress towards a Doctorate degree 
• Any acknowledged publication, research, innovation or creative output

What are we looking for?
Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience 
To be appointed as Junior Lecturer
• A relevant Bachelor’s-level degree (i.e., B Tech/NQF 7 or B Eng./B Eng. Tech Hons/NQF 8 or equivalent) in Civil Engineering. 
• Registration as a Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA (in case of NQF 7) or Candidate Engineering Technologist/Engineer with ECSA (in case of NQF 8). 
• At least two years’ teaching/lecturing/industry experience relevant to Structural Engineering. 
• Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, application and practical experience of: 
  • Reinforced concrete design at both a broadly-defined and complex level. 
  • Structural steel design at both a broadly-defined and complex level. 
  • Finite element design applications. 
  • Construction supervision and project management within the structural engineering domain. 
  • Software applications related to structural engineering, e.g., Microsoft Excel (advanced/macro development), AutoDesk (Civil-3D & AutoCAD), Prokon, Revit Structures, and Building Information Modelling (BIM). 
  • Design codes: SANS 10400 – Building Regulations; SANS 10100 – Concrete Design; SANS 10160 – Structural Design Loads; SANS 10162 – Structural Steel; SANS 10163 – Timber Design; SANS 10164 – Masonry; and SANS 2001 – Construction Works. 
 
To be appointed as Lecturer:
• A relevant Master’s-level degree (i.e., M Tech/M Eng./NQF 9 or equivalent) in Civil Engineering. 
• Registration as a Candidate Engineering Technologist/Engineer with ECSA. 
• At least two years’ teaching/lecturing/industry experience relevant to Structural Engineering.
 
To be appointed as Lecturer (continued)
• Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, application and/or practical experience of:
  • Reinforced concrete design at both a broadly-defined and complex level.
  • Structural steel design at both a broadly-defined and complex level.
  • Finite element design applications.

To be appointed as Lecturer:
• Evidence of progress towards a Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering.
• Registration as a Professional Engineering Technologist/Engineer with ECSA or to be registered within 2 years.
• Evidence of experience in research and associated outputs.
