Job Purpose
Vacancy for a student counsellor (District Six campus), to provide a comprehensive range of services to registered students and staff of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, as well as to prospective students and alumni. The student counsellor –
- Assists CPUT students in making important life transitions – from entering University and
adjusting to the academic and social demands of University life, to equipping them with
competencies and skills to reach their career and life goals - all aimed at facilitating the
general wellbeing and holistic growth and development of the students. The student counsellor does this through various levels of engagement, ranging from individual counselling and therapy sessions, to conducting skills development workshops, wellness promotion and the peer helping programme.
- Assists University staff in an advisory, advocacy and research capacity. Examples are: assistance with the early identification of students at risk of failure or drop-out and the planning of appropriate retention interventions, joint research initiatives, evaluations and recommendations.
- Facilitates psychometric assessments for the treatment and development of students. Including career assessments, and
-counselling / career planning in the form of workshops, or individual counselling to prospective and current students and alumni
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
- Masters’ Degree in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology.
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of SA. as psychologist.
- Minimum of one-year work experience as a registered psychologist.
Recommendation:
- Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds at an institution of higher learning and preferably experience working at a Student Counselling Centre.

- Counselling and crisis debriefing: Therapy and counselling for students with academic, personal, social and career related challenges.
- Facilitating student support groups related to different psychoeducational topics.
- Administering, processing and providing feedback on a variety of psychometric assessments.

Job Purpose
This post is in line with the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP), part of the Staffing South Africa's Universities Framework (SSAUF) response towards addressing challenges in the South African Higher Education system in respect of size, composition and capacity of its academic staff. Job Purpose
To support and administer the enterprise virtualisation environment and associated infrastructure services within ICTS. The role is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and stability of virtualised server environments and supporting enterprise systems aligned to institutional operational and technology objectives.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or in a related field
• Relevant VMware, virtualisation or infrastructure certifications will be advantageous
• At least four (4) years’ experience in VMware or enterprise virtualisation platforms
• Experience with enterprise server, storage and data centre environments
• Experience with high availability, clustering and performance optimisation
• Experience in the Higher Education environment will be advantageous

Job Purpose
To supervise the Enterprise Systems team in supporting and maintaining server infrastructure, enterprise applications, and associated IT services within CTS. The role is responsible for ensuring system availability, operational stability, service continuity, and the effective delivery of infrastructure and enterprise system support services in alignment with institutional and technology objectives.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or in a related field
- At least five (5) years’ experience in system platform, of which two (2) years in team leadership role
- Commercial experience in the IT service industry (hosting, hardware support, Enterprise Linux)
- Knowledge of/and experience in supporting enterprise databases would be advantageous
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
- Coordination and Support of ICTS Services: Assist in the development and oversee the implementation of the Systems Management Framework, Service SLAs, and Business Continuity and DR activities
- Oversight of specialised spaces run by IIS: Assist in the development, oversee the implementation of the Management Framework for the team as well as ancillary services (e.g. DR, equipment maintenance)
- Cross-functional coordination, supervisory and delegated responsibilities
- Contribute to and support recruitment and selection activities
- Liaise with vendors and third parties for applicable services and hardware
- Coordinate and support team and cross-functional projects
- Support and facilitate the professional development of subordinates
- Coordinate and supervise the teams reporting to this position

Job Purpose

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or in a related field

- Strong background in software development, including PHP, Java, or relevant technologies
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle) and web services/API development
