SNR ENGINEERING TECH. (PLANNING & DESIGN)
SALARY: R330 021.00 – R428 374.50 p.a [T12]
Job Purpose: Coordinate the key performance areas and result indicators associated with all new projects, planning and design, capital works programming (new electrical projects such as substations, underground cables, area lighting, conductors, low voltage services, etc.) and distribution, reticulation, including maintenance and repair activities, drafting detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts ensuring that all aspects of operation and associated processes are in compliance with project specifications and legislation (e.g. NRS 034-1:2007) and completed within planned time and budget constraints.
Duties: To enable the Department to attain the present goals and targets set in terms of service delivery. Ensure that the tender process is executed in terms of Council policy and guidelines. Ensure that strategically impacting meetings are attended and represented. Prevent fraud and mismanagement of funds to safeguard the assets of the Department. Maintain a highly motivated workforce and to ensure compliance with all the related legislation applicable to the Department.
Promote good relations with the various internal and external bodies and organizations. See to it that the correct procedures and effective administrative processes are followed. To ensure that the Directorate is capably positioned in terms of material, equipment and personnel to achieve outcomes of electrical engineering projects. Ensure that electrical engineering projects are planned and designed in compliance with laid down standards. Maintain effective electrical engineering contract administration to support the delivery of project outcomes in line with departmental objectives and requirements. Oversee the performance of service providers, receipt of goods for verification and compliance checks.
Requirements: B. Tech or National Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Registration with the Engineering Council of SA. Code B Drivers’ license. Computer literacy (MS Office Applications, CAD & Electrical Designer). Proficiency in at least 2 of the official languages of the Western Cape. Good management, human relations, interpersonal and communication skills. Sound mathematical and technical skills. Ability to give attention to detail. High level of responsibility. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to handle conflict
Experience: 5 years relevant experience.
