SALARY: R756 789.00 – R982 336.50 

 
Job Purpose: 
• Strategic management in planning and coordinating key performance areas of Public Works which includes : Roads and Stormwater, Solid Waste Management, Refuse Removal and Area Cleaning, Municipal Facilities: Parks, Open Spaces & Cemeteries, Building Maintenance, Mechanical Workshop and Fleet Management 
• Responsible for strategic corporate decision making as member of the Strategic Management Team representing the Public Works Division. 
• Strategically involved in devising new policies, decision making, financial and functional planning and operation of the Division. 
• Responsible for the provision of a quality, safe and sustainable supply of the diverse Public Works and related services to all consumers within the Breede Valley Municipal Area within the framework of Council policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. 
 

Duties: Responsible for the Strategic Planning of the Division; Responsible for Technical Management, Financial Management and Risk Management; Adhere to Legal and Statutory requirements; Responsible for management of Performance, Productivity and Personnel; Manage and oversee all processes with regards to Contract Management; Manage relationships, communication and administration within the Division. 
 
Requirements: Appropriate B degree, Professional Registration in terms of Act 46 of 2000, sec 18 (1)(a)(i): Professional Engineer or sec 18 (1)(a)(ii):Professional Engineer Technologist; Code B driver’s licence; Computer literate; Must be able to communicate in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape; Must have good interpersonal and managerial skills; Must be able to handle conflict situations; Must have good communication and interpretation skills; Must have good leadership and people skills. 
 
Experience: 7 years relevant experience in a managerial position 
 
Preferred requirements/Skills: Advanced knowledge of Project Management
