GENERAL MANAGER: MARKETING

Salary: R1 169 499.00 – R1 461 875.00 TCTC

Job Purpose:
To lead the development and implementation of integrated marketing strategies and core brand assets, locally and internationally, that strengthen brand equity, grow brand presence, and support organisational objectives through effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and market insights. The role requires the development and implementation of integrated marketing and brand strategies that promote South Africa’s reputation, competitiveness, and attractiveness for investment, tourism, talent, and national pride. The role ensures that marketing programmes strengthen South Africa’s global nation brand positioning.
Minimum Qualification Requirements & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field.
- A postgraduate qualification (MBA or Master’s in Marketing) advantageous.
- Brand custodianship and stewardship experience.
- 10–15 years’ experience in marketing, brand management, or strategic communications. At least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
- Experience in nation branding, destination marketing or international marketing is highly advantageous.

- • Develop and implement the organisation’s marketing and brand strategy aligned with corporate goals.
- • Provide strategic leadership to the marketing department and guide long-term brand positioning.

- • Oversee brand positioning, brand identity including the architecture and brand creative assets.
- • Ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels and stakeholders.

- • Lead the planning and execution of local and international marketing campaigns.
- • Drive Brand South Africa’s flagship programmes.
- • Ensure campaigns promote South Africa’s competitiveness in sectors such as tourism, trade, and investment.
- • Evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and marketing investments.
- • Translate insights into data-driven marketing decisions.
- Stakeholder and Partnership Management.
- • Build partnerships with media, brand marketing agencies, and international platforms.
