GENERAL FOREMAN: INFRASTRUCTURE
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent qualification
- Experience in a similar position as a General Foreman
- Experience in supervision of subordinates
- Knowledge of general building maintenance techniques and procedures e.g. wet trades, carpentry, plumbing, electrical installations, etc.
- Knowledge of general cleaning techniques and procedures
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Computer Literacy (MS Office and Facility Maintenance Software)
- Bilingual (English and Afrikaans)
- Valid Driver’s licence
- Must be prepared to work after hours upon request
Responsibilities:
- Supervision and assisting with general building maintenance including gardens, grounds, buildings, furniture, machinery and equipment
- Supervision and assisting with cleaning of facilities including sweeping, mopping, etc.
- Supervision and applicable training of a team of general workers
- Daily use of Facility Maintenance Software
- Administration and stock control of cleaning and maintenance materials
- Interaction with external contractors, service providers and consultants
- Provision of a support service to campus administration and other campuses
Permanent position subject to 12 months’ probation.

WORKING HOURS: 40 hours per week
STARTING DATE: As soon as possible
REMUNERATION: R145 281 per annum plus benefits. Benefits include a thirteenth cheque. Membership of the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) is compulsory. Employees may also be eligible to receive a Home owner’s housing allowance and the employer’s medical aid subsidy. Details regarding the fringe benefits are available on request.
