X5 BUILDING CONTROL INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES 2026 
Stipend: R4 500.00 pm 
Duration: 12 Months 
This initiative is presented by the Beaufort West Municipality and is offering an opportunity for unemployed youth to be Building Controllers to enhance the Infrastructure Services capacity within the local municipal area. The criteria for the training opportunity are as follows: 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: 
  • National Diploma: Civil Engineering/ Town Planning *Certificate/Building Science/ N5 Building/ or any Civil building related field of study with Matric (Grade 12) 
  • Clear criminal record (SAPS) 
  • Aged between 20-40 
  • Unemployed
  • Must reside within the Beaufort West Municipal Area: Please attach an SAPS Address Confirmation or letter from your ward councillor to confirm your residential address. 
  • ID book/card 
  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo a written diagnostic assessment conducted by the Beaufort West Municipal Infrastructure Services Department: Planning Design and Building Control and if successful, will qualify for the internship programme. 
 
 
DIRECTION TO CANDIDATES: 
Candidates must be physically fit. All applications must be completed on the prescribed municipal application form and must be accompanied by a cover letter, certified copies of qualifications, ID document. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit a stamped vetting certificate from the South African Police Services (or proof of application). Duties 
*Work as a relief cashier in the absence of any cashier in Beaufort West 
*Receive payments, issue receipts and update cash received in deposit book 
*Safeguard cash, receipts and documents in this regard in accordance with control procedures 
*Manage general enquiries *Report complaints received from the public. 
*Miscellaneous tasks as received from Controller: Income 
*Cashiers who work after hours, should be available to check their takings the next morning with supervisor before takings are banked

JOB PURPOSE: 
To perform activities/ tasks associated with the provision of a traffic and community policing service by monitoring and attending to situations associated with minimizing traffic congestion or offences committed causing inconvenience and risk to public safety, enforcing compliance and supporting emergency and rescue personnel during major disasters in order to ensure any risk to public safety or contravention to traffic regulations and specific by-laws identified and corrective/ compliance measures enforced on offenders

Grade 12; Basic traffic training qualification attained; Code EB Drivers license; No criminal record; and Firearm proficiency. With 2 - 5 years’ relevant experience.

JOB PURPOSE:

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Grade 12 with N3 in Electrical Engineering and a Trade Test Electrical (red seal)

  • 2 years relevant experience within a municipal environment.
