GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE: DRBU (Area) – SSA (South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria & West & Southern African Markets (WESA)
 
What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?  
With major global changes towards becoming a data centric organisation on the horizon, and moving towards a more globally centralised architecture, the core accountabilities of this role is to assist the IDT Regional D&A Manager with the design, schedule and embedding of the proposed changes, alongside with the continual uplift of the region and delivery of high value use cases with the DRBU.
 
What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?
The D&A Product Manager serves as the key contact for leading Customer insights across SSA markets and will serve as an SME for data and analytics.
 
Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Assist in building analytical capabilities and insights to drive key decision making across our DRBU.
  • Assist with managing developers and teams across the delivery framework.
    • Manage cross-functional teams, ensure on=time delivery, communicate effectively with sponsors, collaborators and project teams.
  • Assist with mentoring and development of D&A value stream – G34 and Service Providers
  • Assist with finding opportunities and uplift of end markets, as required, based on the prioritised backlog.
    • Including gap analysis for operational data required in systems and assistance to ensure all processes are being followed. This will include strong stakeholder management and change control processes.
  • Assist to develop the corporate data model by sharing key requirements from the different end markets within APMEA SSA.
    • Partnership with business teams in all functions at all decision-making levels to understand and identify data requirements to feedback and ensure the global data model fits with end market requirements.
  • Assist with transformation of the data environment, ecosystem, models, ways of working, whilst continuing to deliver for the region.
  • Assist resource management as we transition to global services operating model and resource teams.
  • QA of all work from delivery teams to ensure correct processes have been followed and governed.
  • Cost tracking, including effort estimate and cost estimation, cost tracking and recharging as required to assist the IDT Regional D&A Manager and Finance Teams.
  • Assist developers working on the use cases with stakeholder management, quality management and ensuring the correct processes are being deployed and that the use case offers value to the business.
    • Including assisting with benefit realisation tracking and management.
  • Oversee the management of internal scoping practices to ensure they are being delivered in the best way that align with BATs pillars, objectives and strategies.
    • Drive discovery from both a qualitative and quantitative context to build solid, data driven, business plans and strategies.
  • Ensure there is a great user experience for all use cases delivered to our partners and ensuring all aspects of the use case are customer centric, easy to use and deliver, and that the interested parties are managed professionally with full, complete and concise communication.
 
What are we looking for?
 
ESSENTIAL
Experience Required
  • Experience between 4+ years within marketing or customer insights and planning teams delivering various test and learn strategies to improve engagement
  • High awareness of data analytics platforms, data management and governance along with an understanding of marketing technologies needed to drive insights adoption
  • Experience working in an agile delivery model and to facilitate / translate data strategy into an actionable operating model for the scrum team to deliver valuable output
  • Strong understanding of key digital marketing principles: consumer centric and journey, user experience, micro conversions, target audience, media planning, etc.
  • Strong understanding of key trade marketing principles: B2B, Trade Effectiveness and Efficiency
  • Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes from customers at various levels in the organisation, including executive level collaborators
  • Ability to interpret the business IT and functional strategies, understand the Group operating model, and the implications actions in one area have on other functions
  • Business or IT experience in using data driven strategies for actionable digital solutions
  • Experience managing IT budgets.
 
Technical / Functional Skills Required
  • Practical experience in BI/Data/Analytics including data modelling, data lake, translating data into usable valuable information
  • Familiar with big data and data science technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Hadoop, Databricks, DataIKU etc) and Datawarehouse concepts
  • Familiar with Enterprise Data Management concepts
  • Familiar with AI/ML technologies and standard processes
  • Familiar with data security and compliance practices e.g., dealing with consumer and PII data
  • Practical experience in the management of geographically diverse highly experienced domain experts
 
Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science or related fields
  • Experience with key systems – Snowflake, Salesforce, Commerce Cloud etc.
  • Cloud, Agile or advanced analytics related certifications from leading technology platforms – AWS, GCP, etc.

Provides proactive support on treasury and cash management processes such as external financing, credit facilities, banking relationships, funding, capital structures, interest rate, foreign exchange (FX) and insurance risk management, liquidity management and cash & banking solutions.
 
Your key responsibilities will include: 
  •  Manage the Treasury function for the Sub-Saharan Africa Area, and responsibility for the South Africa market
  • Manage the End Market/ Cluster Treasury Managers
  • Provide proactive support (within the global treasury strategy framework) in order to implement opportunities for enhancing treasury effectiveness and to assist teams in delivering the global Treasury strategy.
  • Ensure compliance to the global Treasury Policy and Statement of Delegated Authority.
  • Drive working capital initiatives.
  • Optimise cash repatriation from End-markets to the centre.
  • Manage FX exposures across the Region and come up with appropriate actions, including placing adequate hedging mechanisms in place.
  • Drive the development of the cash management framework to optimise efficiency and reduce banking costs
 
What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant financial experience/treasury of which at least 2 years should have been in a Controlling or Audit-related Finance environment.
  • Stakeholder engagement experience
  • Detailed working experience of the FI, TR, MM modules in SAP - Strong IT skills (required to be capable in working on accounting software (preferably SAP Financial Modules), Advanced MS Excel)
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  •  A commercial approach to all activities which requires constant questioning and challenging of the conventional practices.
  • Project management skills - able to work independently and maintain level of independence whilst working in partnership with the Head Office Finance team.

The role leads the review of processes and systems across BAT WESA markets for compliance with BAT Group and local corporate governance requirements with a strong focus on robust internal controls.
 
Your key responsibilities will include: 
  •  Perform compliance reviews on pre-identified high-risk processes and prepare written reports for Senior Leadership Team that clearly and accurately explain the findings and action plans for improvement. 
  • Conduct independent risk-based operational process reviews to help ensure that the systems and procedures support the achievement of business goals and objectives. 
  • Drive review of risk & control framework and lead cross-functional teams in self-assessment of internal controls (annual control navigator assessment) and monitor implementation of remedial action plans.
  • Perform ad-hoc reviews and investigations into suspected irregularities and report the same to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Provide formal training for the operating companies' management and staff to raise the awareness of risk and controls. 
  • Develop and drive process efficiency improvements in line with Group standardisation.
  • Monthly monitoring and reporting of internal controls to the Governance Committee
  • Develop leadership skills for own career advancement.
 
What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting
  •  Professional accountancy qualification (such as CA, ACCA, CPA)
  •  Minimum of 5 years relevant finance/audit experience of which at least 2 years should have been in a controlling or audit related field
  • Working knowledge of SAP is an added advantage.  
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and controls
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
