Assmang Limited’s Beeshoek Iron Ore Mine, west of Postmasburg in the Northern Cape requires the services of:
CHIEF PLANNER
(Ref no: BH 0493-1 must be indicated on application)
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
• Grade 12 (Required);
• Trade Certificate as Artisan (Required);
• Diploma or Certificate in Technical Maintenance and Planning (Required);
• National Diploma in Engineering Studies (Required).
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Two (2) Years Managerial or Supervision Experience (Required);
• Six (6) Years Planned Maintenance in a Plant or Mining Environment (Required);
• Valid Code B Driving License (Required).
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
• Behavioural Competencies: Business Acumen, Leadership Skills, Relationship Building Skills, Results Driven Skills and Change Leadership Skills;
• System Skills: Electronic Document Management Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning, Information Management Systems, Laboratory Information Management Systems, Microsoft Office and SHERQ Systems;
• Legal Requirements: Regulation 2.6.1;
• Technical Competency: Generic Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support and participate in sub-functional change management to drive transformation and optimization;
• Data integrity control;
• Identify improvement initiatives and team recognition;
• Implement compliance requirements;
• Plan, direct and assess quality management;
• Provide input into functional planning;
• Implementation of operational plans;
• Sub-functional resource utilization;
• Sub-functional resource optimization;
• Planned maintenance, planning and reporting;
• Planned maintenance management system optimization;
• Planned maintenance engineering design and asset management;
• Comply with IMS standards;
• Contribute to functional budget planning;
• Implement and manage approved budget;
• Relationship management;
• Technical and professional support;
• Personal development and closing of training gaps;
• Manage people development processes;
• Operational performance management;
• Sub-functional performance management;
• Workforce planning management.
The successful incumbent will be appointed subject to being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996 and meeting the requirements of the Company’s Code of Practice – Minimum Standards of Fitness to perform work at a Mine. He/she may also undergo a psychometric assessment.
The abovementioned position is a D1 on the Patterson grading. The successful candidate that conforms to all said requirements and experience will be appointed on this grading. The successful candidate will be appointed on a 6 month probation period.
Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package.

EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Five (5) Years Geology Experience Within an Opencast Iron Ore Mining Environment (Required);
• Valid Code B Driving License (Required).
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
• Professional Status: GSSA and SACNASP;
• Behavioural Competencies: Business Acumen, Leadership Skills, Relationship Building Skills, Results Driven Skills and Change Leadership Skills;
• System Skills: Microsoft Office, Geology Software and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS);
• Technical Competency: Mining Competency A.
