ABOUT THE ROLE
To effectively manage financial operations and provide financial oversight, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, compliance, and cost efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Grade 12
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting with Accounting 3 (NQF Level 7)
Added Advantage:
- Postgraduate qualification NQF Level 8
EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Minimum of 10 years in financial management, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven experience in Budgeting, financial reporting, and cash flow management, Procurement and supply chain oversight and Pricing strategies and revenue optimization.
Added Advantage:
- Background in defense, manufacturing, or R&D sectors
CRITICAL PERFORMANACE AREA
The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited to;
Financial Strategy & Pricing Oversight
- Develop and implement pricing models that improve profitability and maintain market competitiveness.
- Approve all quotations and cost structures within set turnaround times to avoid revenue leakage.
- Analyze market and financial data to inform strategic pricing and revenue growth initiatives.
- Monitor and report on pricing strategy effectiveness, recommending adjustments based on results.
- Ensure all pricing decisions are fully documented and auditable for transparency.
Revenue Management & Cash Flow Optimization
- Ensure 100% of invoices are issued accurately and on time.
- Track and reduce accounts receivable days, improving cash availability.
- Implement proactive follow-up mechanisms for overdue payments.
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts to support operational decision-making.
- Provide regular reporting on revenue collection efficiency and cash position to management.
- Ensure all procurement requests are processed accurately, timely, and cost-effectively.
- Negotiate supplier contracts to achieve savings targets and service-level improvements.
- Maintain up-to-date records of supplier agreements and procurement documentation.
- Monitor inventory levels and implement measures to reduce wastage and stockouts.
- Report on procurement efficiency, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives.
Budgeting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare annual budgets aligned with strategic objectives and operational requirements.
- Monitor budget adherence monthly and explain variances with actionable recommendations.
- Produce accurate financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) for management and stakeholders.
- Ensure all financial documentation meets regulatory and internal compliance standards.
- Support decision-making with scenario analyses and forecasts that highlight financial implications.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Conduct regular internal audits to identify process gaps and financial risks.
- Implement corrective actions to strengthen financial controls and prevent errors.
- Standardize financial documentation and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Train finance staff on best practices and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Report improvements and process efficiencies, linking them to measurable operational impact.
KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

ABOUT THE JOB:
The role will be responsible for providing expert systems engineering leadership across complex, large-scale, multi-disciplinary acquisition projects, ensuring capability alignment, technical rigor, and through-life value by applying advanced engineering practices and Smart Buyer principles.

- Master’s Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial).

EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in systems engineering or related technical disciplines, including at least 3 years at senior engineer level, with proven leadership of complex engineering projects.
- Demonstrated experience in contract management and negotiation across the full acquisition lifecycle, ensuring technical integrity and programme alignment.
- Strong end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle expertise, including requirements definition, system integration, verification and validation, and lifecycle cost optimisation.
- Proven involvement in high-value acquisition and procurement processes, including technical specification development, bid evaluation, and contract implementation.
- Solid understanding of engineering governance, standards, and public procurement frameworks, with experience operating in capital project and defence-related environments.
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS
Provide technical guidance on the application of systems engineering management and governance processes for complex, large-scale, multi-disciplinary, and high-risk projects, ensuring fit-for-purpose acquisition outcomes, enhanced capability delivery, and compliance with the Smart Buyer principle
- Provide advanced technical leadership and oversight of systems engineering management and governance processes for large-scale, multi-disciplinary, and high-risk projects, ensuring fit-for-purpose capability delivery in line with Smart Buyer principles.
- Apply, refine, and optimise systems engineering frameworks across all acquisition phases, ensuring methodological consistency, rigorous technical assurance, and robust through-life support strategies for complex and interdependent systems.
- Lead and quality-assure requirement definition, traceability, verification activities, and lifecycle cost analyses to uphold engineering integrity, mitigate technical risk, and secure value-driven acquisition outcomes.
- Integrate advanced engineering insights with contracting, operational, and risk considerations to guide sound technical judgement and strengthen decision-making across complex and high-impact project environments.
- Prepare, critically review, and formally endorse Project and Engineering Plans, Risk Management Plans, and Requirement Specifications, ensuring they accurately reflect project scope, technical complexity, and associated risk profiles, and provide a sound basis for disciplined project execution

- Support contract negotiation processes by defining technical scope, measurable performance parameters, and acceptance criteria, preventing scope drift and enabling predictable, on-time, and on-budget delivery of high-risk programmes.

KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
- Advanced expertise in systems engineering principles, lifecycle processes, and standards (e.g., INCOSE SE Handbook), with proven ability to apply them to complex, multi-disciplinary, and high-risk acquisition programmes.
- Strong knowledge of defence and complex acquisition management frameworks, including Smart Buyer principles and capital acquisition governance, to ensure effective oversight, compliance, and technical assurance.
- Proven experience in specification development, technical requirement tailoring, and contracting, applicable to both complex and non-complex systems, platforms, and integrated solutions.
