LOCATION: ALKANTPAN (PRIESKA) NORTHERN CAPE
ABOUT THE JOB:
Assist the Chef to ensure that all kitchen related operational and health and safety protocols and procedures are followed at all times to facilitate the effective and smooth day to day running of the kitchen; high output of well prepared and presented food; and exceptional levels of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Grade 12.
- A Certificate in cooking course.
- 2 – 3 years in food production in hospitality environment
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited to;
Kitchen Operations
- Plan and communicate according to reservations arrival/departure of local and international clients and applicable bookings.
- Capture and file of all documents and food issues, stock takes and other checklists in line with operational procedures
- Organize and assist in food preparations for clients and special dietary requirements on check ins and outs, filing and control of food outlets.
- Respond to client queries and dietary requirements through bookings before clients arrive.
- Assist in all food and beverage operations of Alkantpan Test Range Lodge.
- Assist in the preparation of food and food outlets, executing recipes hygienically and timeously
- Maintain the level of service for each food outlet buffet, from set-up to replenish to ensure client satisfaction.
- Assist in stock monitoring, stock take and ordering, elevating shortages to the Chef and Lodge manager
- Maintain stock levels of perishable and non-perishable products
Reporting:
- Assist with stock takes, report -shortages, cleaning materials, dry stores
- Assist in sourcing and the procurement of kitchen items
- Assist with internal requisitions and orders
- Assist in maintaining the Food Acceptability Certificate
- Assist the chef with functions and other food requests
- Assist in monitoring food cost, reporting on price escalations
KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
- Knowledge of kitchen operations.
- Fundamental hospitality knowledge.
- Knowledge of safe operating procedures.
- Knowledge of the management systems (e.g. SHE, Quality, etc.)

AMMUNITION HANDLERS X3 (12 MONTHS FIXED-TERMCONTRACT)

LOCATION: ALKANTPAN (PRIESKA), NORTHERN CAPE
ABOUT THE JOB:
To assist in range clearance, explosives ordnance disposal activities, ammunition and explosives bulk disposal as well as ammunition storage and transport activities. Often work in harsh conditions
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Driver’s license – Code C1 will be an added advantage
- PRDP will be an added advantage.
- Must have worked in physically demanding environment
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited to;
- Form part of a demolitions team for the destruction of ammunition and explosives by open pit detonation, burning, incineration and other complying and cost-saving methods.
- Range clearance and reporting of suspect UXOs on all impact areas and the demolition range.
- Conduct Search and Recovery of inert ammunition items at all impact areas.
- Form part of the EOD team to render ammunition safe at all impact areas and the demolitions range.
- Assist with packing and palletising of explosives and ammunition articles for transport and storage purposes, including demolitions and EOD requirements.
- Assist with destructive testing requirements and setting up of environmental and insensitive ammunition tests.
- Ensure proper housekeeping for inert ammunition articles and recovered scrap.
- Shredding of unserviceable plastic ammunition containers.
- Assist with the disposal of inactive leftovers from demolition and EOD activities.
- Carry out ad-hoc tasks as per the instructions of the Senior Technician: Demolitions.
KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
- Communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of the OHS Act
