ABOUT THE JOB:
The role of a Senior Engineer (Software Developer) is to contribute to IMT projects by conducting engineering software designs, creating software applications and integrating the software to the hardware systems.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in either Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Electronics Engineering.
- Added Advantage: Masters in one of the above-mentioned fields
- Added Advantage: ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer
- Essential: 7 – 9 years’ experience in software development, modelling and simulation.
- Key experience in programming and developing using C++, C#, Python or Java and many more and experience in interfacing equipment at signal and software level (including Radar and Camera integration / networking).
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREA:
The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited to;
- To setup, design and develop computer models for simulation as well as interpret results for mathematical verification.
- To develop solutions to software design tasks of a medium complex nature.
- Expert contribution to the development, integration, application and analysis of naval systems (in domain specific capability area).
- To manage and execute technically challenging projects with multiple specialist and support personnel as team members.
- To decide on applied technology implementation within a defined project which will influence readiness in the medium term.
- To translate client expectations into a valid applied and practical technical cost effective solution.
- To develop solutions to technical challenging technology problems with focus on applied and practical application of engineering principles and document it in technical reports.
- To write technical reports specifying raw data as well as interpretation of results and make recommendations.
- Execution of system tests (hardware integrated to software) and document test results.
- Interpret complex measured results and propose actions and recommendations.
- Be responsible for making complex technology decisions as part of engineering activities.
- To provide inputs to the IMT long-term capability development plan.
- To create and maintain client interfaces in order to promote own technical area/expertise.
- To communicate and network with client in support of IMT objectives and identify new business opportunities.
- To network with industry and academia, etc. in order to be aware of the latest available technology in area of expertise.
- To identify opportunities for IMT process improvement.
KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
- Knowledge of modeling, simulation and solution procedures.
- Sound knowledge of Software Programming (e.g., C++, C#, Python or Java, etc.)
- Knowledge of applicable software development tools and modelling / simulation applications.
- Hardware and software integration knowledge.
- Knowledge of different signal interface standards (e.g. RS422, NMEA, Asterix, etc.).
- Knowledge of internet protocols and networking standards (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, VPNs, etc.).
- Knowledge of AIS, LRIT, IFF, ADSB and WECDIS will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Project Management.
- Knowledgeable in systems principles.
- Expert knowledge of processes of engineering.
- Awareness of Acquisition Management Practices.
- The ability to translate client requirements into a valid applied and practical technical solution.
- Expert knowledge of Techno Maritime area.

• Load and transport ammunition/explosives in accordance to explosive regulations.
• To assemble ammunition as per client specification.

• Monitor conditioning chambers during day time and at set intervals, and report any malfunctions to Electrical Maintenance division.
• Record and report data (e.g. mass, lot numbers, temperatures, etc.) to the Test Manager.
• Mop-up of firing site after test.
• To conduct risk assessment
• To conduct audit
• Render any other related duties

MEDICAL ORDERLY

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To operate the emergency vehicle to transport the injured or sick individuals to healthcare facility, provide emergency response and essential medical assistance, during tests and assist Occupational Health Practitioner at the clinic with related tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS;
- Essential: Basic or Intermediate Life Support certification
- Essential: Emergency Care Technician Certificate
- Essential: Valid CPR and First Aid Certification
- Essential: Professional Driver’s Permit

EXPERIENCE:
- Essential: 3 – 5 years’ relevant experience in patient care or emergency response.
TECHNICAL / LEGAL CERTIFICATION / PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION
- Essential: Registration with HPCSA as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic
CRITICAL PEROFORMANCE AREA
The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited;
- Control First Aid stock to ensure availability of functional First Aid boxes at different sites.
- Maintaining and restocking of medical supplies and to ensure readiness for emergency response.
- Ensure that the emergency vehicle is well maintained and equipped.
- Provide first aid and medical care on ambulance to injured or ill individuals during tests.
- Respond to emergency calls, diagnose and stabilise patient’s until further medical treatment.
- Administer appropriate emergency medical treatments following established protocols.
- Treat minor injuries to prevent complications and loss of man-hours.
- Safely operate emergency vehicle and transport patients safely to medical facilities, ensuring their comfort and utilizing advanced life support techniques when required.
- Maintain records such as first aid reports, incident reports etc. to ensure availability of reliable data for Division’s Management Review.
- Standby during high-risk activities/tests.
- Assist and contribute to wellness programs to increase awareness and improve quality of life of employees.
- Maintain allocated medical premises, ambulance and replenish first aid boxes
- Monitor compliance to usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at the workplace to prevent injuries and ensure compliance to the OHS-Act.
- Assist Occupational Health Practitioner with routine tasks in the clinic, e.g., blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol measurements, audio screening, spirometry and vision screening to ensure an effective health service to employees.
- Assist Occupational Health Practitioner with administration of Injuries on Duty and Occupational Diseases.
- Assist in coordinating and conducting emergency drills.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay

ARTISAN: DIESEL MECHANIC

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To perform preventative and corrective duties and maintenance of all vehicles and related equipment utilised by Alkantpan in accordance with relevant technical requirement and prescripts to the fleet of Alkantpan. To supply a repair and maintenance service of diesel engines and associated equipment to the fleet of Alkantpan
QUALIFICATIONS;
- Essential: Grade 12
- Essential: Trade Certificate (Diesel Mechanic)
- Essential: Code C1
EXPERIENCE:
- Essential: Minimum 2 years relevant experience
CRITICAL PEROFORMANCE AREA
The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited;
- Contributing in the planning of work for the repairs, maintenance and execution of activities associated with diesel engines.
- Implementing the scope of activities as determined by the scope of work during plant or diesel equipment outages.
- Performing diesel plant/machinery inspections to identify faults / defects / irregularities.
- Carry out the required overhauling activities in line with reference documents.
- Conducting inspections, utilizing test equipment, drawings / diagrams and manufacturer’s specifications.
- Identifying, repairing and replacing problematic / faulty components / equipment. Reviewing safe working procedures periodically as required.
- Ability to work on petroleum engines.
- Any other instruction required by the supervisor/section manager.
- Determining consequences of mechanical/electrical failure of diesel machines, and destruction of diesel plant and / or human endangerment.
- Taking corrective action, i.e. part replacement / repairs, manufacture or fabricate parts according to specifications, and by utilising appropriate tools, drawings etc.
- Participating in or leading diesel plant /equipment investigations.
- Scrutinizing deviation forms, plant history, service notifications, drawings, specifications, manuals etc. to mitigate against possible or diesel plant damage.
- Maintaining spares at adequate level for daily availability.
- Providing technical advice towards the purchasing of material and/or spares.
- Performing quality control inspections when material and/or spares are received.
- Confirming the appropriate use of spares and materials for optimal utilization.
- Manage the spares and materials stores.
- Providing input in project execution from the planning of work, to the implementation of modifications, as determined by a scope of work during diesel equipment malfunction and outages.
- Analysing faults / defects and determining whether modifications or replacement components are required.
- Testing and evaluating new and modified diesel equipment.
- Ensuring that all related drawings/ manuals/ documentations are updated and filed.
