PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To manage the Weapons Section and provide the client with weapons engineering services, including maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, operational capability improvement, testing, commissioning, alignment, acceptance trials, and engineering modifications for weapons systems on ships and submarines. CRITICAL PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  • Utilize reverse engineering capabilities to effectively tackle spare parts needs arising from obsolescence.
  • Utilize applicable military standards, such as MIL and STANAG, to ensure the verification and validation of weapon systems following maintenance.
  • Sustain a quality management system that ensures uniformity, customer contentment, and traceability.
  • Expand the Section's scope by enhancing its capabilities with the aim of addressing all the needs of the client.
  • Estimate, plan, schedule, direct and control resources, work and projects within the section.
  • Manage section resources for optimum performance to meet or exceed set targets in terms of Safety, Health and Environment, Maintenance and Asset Management, Project Management and Budgets.
  • Compile and review work process documentation, specifications and practices to ensure SHERQ and legislative compliance. 
  • Evaluating Systems performance against set standards and specifications as well as initiating corrective, preventative and proactive measures for optimum performance.
  • Formulate personnel development plans to meet current and future needs.
  • Develop section plans in line with the overall business plan.
  • Perform engineering investigations and implement technological processes and upgrades.
  • Leading, supporting and motivating personnel within the LRA and company policy framework.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • B degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electronics/Electrical)
  • Project Management Qualification will be an added advantage
  • Registration with ECSA will be an added advantage

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 7 years post qualification experience in managing weapon systems throughout their entire product lifecycle, including development, integration, verification, validation, operation, and maintenance
  • Minimum 3 years project management experience in an industrial, marine or related engineering environment.
  • Minimum 2 years leadership experience.
  • 5 years in the Defence or Maritime Sector will be an added advantage

Planning & Risk Management

·       Develop and implement a Market Intelligence Roadmap aligned with Armscor’s strategic objectives and defence priorities.

·       Provide strategic foresight for multi-year resource allocation, technology investments, and business development initiatives.

·       Support risk management and compliance frameworks to mitigate operational, geopolitical, and market risks.

·       Define and manage the annual market intelligence budget and ensure alignment with organisational objectives.

 

KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:

·       In-depth understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, data collection techniques, survey design, competitor analysis, and market trend evaluation.

·       Strong knowledge of regional and global defence markets, procurement processes, technology trends, and strategic opportunities in the South African Defence Industry (SADI) and international markets.

·       Expertise in long-term market forecasting, opportunity identification, scenario analysis, and multi-year revenue and technology investment planning.

·       Proficiency in analytical tools, data interpretation, reporting, and visualization platforms (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau) to generate actionable insights.

·       Understanding of business development processes, revenue generation strategies, pricing frameworks, and competitive positioning.

·       Ability to interpret geopolitical, regulatory, and economic landscape that impact market access, business strategy, and export potential.

ABOUT THE JOB:

To ensure the maintenance and up-keeping of the garden and premises to enhance the image and working environment of the organization.    

 

QUALIFICATION

·         Grade 10.

 

EXPERIENCE

·         1 - 2 years garden maintenance experience.

 

 

CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS

·         The maintenance and up-keeping of the garden and premises to enhance the image and working environment of the organisation.

·         Follows detailed worksheet for routine grounds keeping duties.

·         Waters all plants, flowers and grass on property by hand, sprinkler or other methods as needed.

·         Mows and trims all lawn areas using a lawn mower and a lawn trimmer.

·         Pulls weeds by hand or uses “weed wacker” as appropriate.

·         Planting, fertilising and other gardening jobs as needed.

·         Maintains and operates irrigation system.

·         Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of all outside areas.

·         Keeps all related equipment clean, maintained and stored properly.

·         Keeps equipment storage room neat, clean and organised.

·         Completes inventory of supplies and informs manager when additional supplies are needed.

·         Keeps the entire property free of litter, cigarette butts and other trash.

·         Tree felling and cutting.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

·         Knowledge of garden equipment.
