SENIOR RESEARCHER - TAD
Salary (R586 283 – R879 422 pa) all-inclusive remuneration package
 
Key Performance Areas:
 Conduct independent and advanced research in a Biosafety Level 3 laboratory: manages data capture, does
advanced analysis, interprets and submits recommendations,
 Compile detailed reports and approve final reports,

Requirements:
 PhD in Microbiology; Virology, Molecular Biology or related discipline with 6 years’ of academic or biotechnology experience in cellular immunological and vaccine development research,
 Registration with a relevant scientific body is an added advantage,
 A track record in the application of immunological assays based on flow cytometry analysis as well as with other immune assays such as ELISPOT and immune transcriptomics for large animal diseases/models is an added advantage,
 A track record of publications, supervising MSc and PhD students and obtaining research funding is required,
 Experience with working on transboundary animal diseases and established research towards the improvement of veterinary vaccines is an added advantage.

SENIOR RESEARCHER- BACTERIAL SEROLOGY
Salary (R586 283 – R879 422 pa) all-inclusive remuneration package
 
Key Performance Areas:
 The following duties will be performed and ensure timeous and good service delivery to clients and research collaborators,
 Manage the bacterial serology laboratory and its human and capital resources, including drawing up budgets, reviewing diagnostic prices, approving requisitions and writing deviations, identifying and motivating for capex; do performance appraisals, initiate or be involved in disciplinary matters; compile or contribute to management reports; initiate and attend meetings; resolve operational problems; liaise with stakeholders,
 Verify diagnostic reports and authorise them; liaise with clients; perform tests when necessary; provide guidance on diagnostic approaches and work flow when occasion demands,

MANAGER: INTERNAL FINANCIAL CONTROL AND REPORTING (Re-Advert)

Key Performance Areas:
 Oversee the year–end process and ensure that the AFS Supporting schedules are accurate and submitted timeously for audit;
 Identify, assess, document and monitor business processes (including financial systems) that affect the ARC’s financial reporting, including the use of process narratives & flowcharts;
 Develop policies for core financial reporting processes and oversee the implementation of related processes;
 Prepare and manage the ongoing quarterly, interim and annual reporting process (financial statements) for the ARC to relevant stakeholders;

 Manages and mitigates risks and challenges within projects to ensure milestones are achieved timeously,
 Ensures effective transfer of technology and promotion through training, farmers days, information days and demonstrations to ensure adoption of technology,
 Leads the development of a service delivery package for area of responsibility and ensure the team renders expect scientific services at national and international level,
 Attracts business opportunities and participates in the dissemination and marketing of information (e.g. seminars, workshops, courses, radio, TV etc.),
 Guides and provides leadership in the compilation and management of budgets within area of responsibility, Guides, initiates and leads the development of new projects and proposals for securing external income for projects within area of responsibility,
 Identifies the need for human capital management in projects and manages the allocated resources including mentoring of staff and students,
 Manages staff performance by ensuring that performance agreements and assessments are done timeously.
 
Requirements:
 A PhD in animal science or equivalent qualification with 5 years relevant experience, post Ph.D,
 20 peer reviewed publications,
 An NRF recognition with a C3 rating or higher will be a an advantage,
 Registration with a relevant scientific registration body,
 International and/or national speaker,
 Good communication skills written and verbal,
 Proficiency in MS Office Suite,
 Technology Transfer: Participate in advisory services,
 Shows awareness of Intellectual Property opportunities,
 A valid South African Code B (08) driver’s license.

Finance Assistant: S&T Claims
Salary (R307 442 to R461 159 p.a) All-inclusive remuneration package
 
Key Performance Areas:
 Review of Subsistence and Travel (S&T) claim forms,
 Review of travel advances,
 Prepare the excel sheet for both advances and claims to be uploaded on the payroll system,
 Balancing of the payroll file before payment is processed,
 Reconciliation and processing of S&T amounts due for deduction from employee salaries,
 Sending out to relevant institutes monthly payroll lists for deductions,
 Keeping of the travel advance register and follow up on overdue travel advances,
 Ensuring queries from the institutes are cleared by finance assistance,
 Processing of the S&T journals,
 Assist with audit queries,
 Filling of the S&T documents.
 
Requirements:
 B-Com in Accounting / or Equivalent,
 2 years’ experience in Finance,
 Proficiency in the MS Office suite,
 Microsoft AX experience will be an advantage,
 Ability to work under pressure,
