The ARC-Institute for Fruit, Vine and Wine (ARC-Infruitec-Nietvoorbij) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Stellenbosch.
FLEET MANAGEMENT ADMINISTRATOR
Salary (R 191 510 – R 287 264p p.a) All-inclusive remuneration package
Key Performance Areas:
Assist with service and repairs of vehicles,
Driving to various service centres for vehicle drop off and pick up,
Assist with transporting officials to and from various points,
Capture and completion of log sheets on AX system,
Attending to internal queries when required such as battery problems, changing tyres,
Be a representative at local Traffic department under the Proxy,
Ensure that vehicles are always roadworthy and serviced,
Keeping of service records and filing on vehicles,
Participate in Ad hoc duties for Assets on the following: physical location and numbering of assets,
Assisting with asset disposals,
Compliance with OHS Act, by always ensuring safety and roadworthy,
Compliance with National Road Traffic Act.
Requirements:
Grade 12 with at least 5 years work experience on Transport or Fleet Management environment,
Good communication skills in two official languages of the Western Cape,
Proficiency in MS Office suite. Knowledge of Microsoft AX will be added advantage,
Knowledge of SA National Road Traffic Regulations,

RESEARCH ASSISTANT: GRAPE BREEDING
Salary (R142 894 – R214 343 p.a) All-inclusive remuneration package
Key Performance Areas:
Tending to plants in glasshouses and tunnels,
Weighing chemicals and prepare nutrient solutions,
Monitoring of pests and diseases in tunnels and glasshouses,
Assists with spraying plants with fungicides and pesticides,
Assists with planting seedlings from glass jars to seed trays,
Plant seedlings from seed trays to plastic plant bags,
Keep record of numbers of plants and seeds per cross,
Ensure that plants are grouped together according to crosses,
Collect seeds from grape berries (crosses), preparing seeds for stratification and sowing seeds for germination and tending to germinating seeds and small seedlings,
Assists with preparing soil mixtures and filling plant bags,
Assists with collection, preparation and storage of graft wood and plant samples for virus, mineral deficiencies, and DNA testing,
Correct use of equipment according to specification,
Keep equipment neat and clean,
Any other ad hoc tasks that may be reasonable to be assigned to the job incumbent,
Assists researchers on other projects,
Complies to all occupational health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
Grade 12,
Experience of grapevine growing and knowledge to monitor and identify grape diseases and pests,
Experience working in nurseries and with young plants especially with grape plants,
Experience and practical knowledge of grape growing,
Excellent communication skills verbal and written,
Attention to detail and work accuracy extremely important,
Computer skills is recommendation for record keeping,
Valid driver’s licence.

Key Performance Areas:
Maintenance/ tending of plants in olive nursery,
Maintenance of irrigation system and scheduling of irrigation in olive nursery,
Monitoring of pests and diseases in olive nursery,
Correctly and timely application of fungicides and pesticides and nutrition (foliar) in olive nursery,
Weed control in olive nursery and area surrounding nursery,
Prepare growth medium and filling plant bags,
Organise seedling plants in olive nursery according to groups,
Establishing plants in olive gene bank field blocks and reporting problems,
Pruning plants in olive gene bank field blocks as needed,
Timeous and accurate Data collection,
Supervising work teams,
Provides research support and other services to researchers and technicians,
Performs routine activities independently or under supervision when needed,
Correct use of equipment according to specification and operating procedure,

Experience working in nurseries and with young plants and practical knowledge of olive growing or production,

RESEARCH ASSISTANT: VITICULTURE
Salary (R142 894 – R214 343p.a) per annum. All-inclusive remuneration package.
Key Performance Areas:
Responsible for bud fertility analyses client liaison, analyses and record keeping,
Maintain good relations and advanced research support to clients, technicians, and researchers,
Provides research support, diagnostics, and other services for any research project,
Performs routine activities under supervision and any other assigned ad hoc tasks,
Supervises allocated HR resources and assists in coordinating of work activities,
Adheres to work plans as prescribed by the line manager,
Utilises field and laboratory equipment and materials according to specifications,
Report any equipment or infrastructure defects timeously,

TRACTOR DRIVER
Salary (R123 816 – R185 727 p.a) All-inclusive remuneration package
Key Performance Areas:
Working on a tractor with various implements, including bush cutter, slasher, spraying machine, fertiliser spread, planter etc. at a correct speed,
Ensure proper soil preparation is done accurately, timeously and in a professional manner,
Safe transportation of workers, farm produce, fertilizers, and other farm equipment,
Pruning, suckering, canopy management and harvesting of fruit trees / vineyards,
Basic maintenance of the tractor, implements, irrigation & trellis systems,

FARM ASSISTANT
Salary (R107 288 – R160 932 p.a) All-inclusive remuneration package
Key Performance Areas:
Pruning-, suckering and canopy management of fruit trees and harvesting,
Assist with planting of trees, trellis systems, irrigation systems, forming of trees,
Apply irrigation, fertilizers, chemical sprays, and cover crops as per instructions,
Assist with the maintenance of security fences, trellis- and irrigation systems,
Assist with general farm work,
Monitoring of pest and deceases, security fences, irrigation probes,

The ARC-Central Office (ARC-CO) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Hatfield, Pretoria:
RISK MANAGER
Salary: (R708 556 to- R1 062 835 p.a) All-inclusive remunerations package
Key Performance Areas:
• Co-ordinate all Risk Management activities strategic, operational and project level across ARC,
• Assist with undertaking business risk assessments at all levels of the ARC, i.e., strategic, operational, and programme, and periodically monitor the progress made on risk minimisation,
• Review and Analyse risk reports monthly, quarterly, etc. as submitted by ARC risk owners, in order to identify and timeously respond to any non-compliances to the ARC Enterprise Risk Management Reporting Framework,
• Assist with the phased review of the ARC internal control measures, across all its business processes, against “best practice” and where weaknesses are identified, monitor the implementation of recommendations and its compliance,
• Monitor, evaluate and periodically communicate the status of Risk Management practices in the ARC,
• Analyse and report on the management of risk exposures to the ARC Corporate Enterprise Risk Management Committee (CERMC) and other similar ARC Governance Structures,
• Manage business risks by identifying and developing/ reviewing appropriate risk management strategies and policies,
• Provide inputs into the ARC requisite assurance plan and be involved in co-ordinating outputs to assurance providers,
• Facilitate activities linked to the ARC Combined Assurance Process,
• Co-ordinate the ARC acquisition and maintenance of a comprehensive insurance portfolio,
• In consultation with the supervisor to ensure for effective functioning of the CERMC,
• Provide inputs and be an integral part of the ARC strategy development and organisational performance management process and systems, i.e. Monitoring and Evaluation,
Requirements:
• B Degree, with specialization in Risk Management. A Postgraduate Diploma/Degree (Honours /Masters) will be an added advantage,
• 5 years working experience in risk and insurance management, at a managerial level, business and operational management experience,
• Experience in implementing and maintaining operational standards or “best practices”,
• Exposure within strategy, planning, and organisational performance management environments.
