The ARC-Small Grain (ARC-SG) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic person to the following position at Bethlehem, Free State: 
 
ASSISTANT TRANSPORT OFFICER: FACILITIES 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Assist with the fleet, insurance administration, asset registration, verifications, and disposal. 
 Assist with issuing of vehicles and booking KMs against projects, conduct pre- and post-inspection. 
 Monitor the use of vehicles by ensuring that vehicles are serviced and roadworthy. 
 Delivery and collection of vehicles. 
 Onsite washing of vehicle & disinfection of vehicles before embarking on an official trip. 
 Ad hoc tasks as instructed by the Facilities Officer. 
 
Requirements:
 Senior Certificate/ Grade 12/ Matric. 
 3 years’ experience in fleet administration. 
 A valid driver’s license. 
 Proficiency with MS Office suite and strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

The ARC-Vegetable, Industrial and Medicinal Plants (ARC-VIMP) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic person to the following position at Roodeplaat, Pretoria: 
 
HCM ADMINISTRATOR 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Provide logistical support and advice on recruitment and selection procedures to the line and departmental managers. 
 Implementation of HR policies and procedures in line with relevant legislature.
 Administering of recruitment and selection procedures and processes (including but not limited to; assisting the new employees with on-boarding documentation; preparing Payroll advises on new employees etc.). 
 Administration of employee condition of services. 
 Appointment and Terminations of employees. 
 Send inputs to Payroll office. 
 Render and maintain a quality human resources administrative service that conforms to personnel needs and those of the organization. 
 Liaise with Provident and Pension Funds to ensure that employees receive their benefits. 
 Administration of leave and attend all HR and ESS related enquiries and assist employees with pay slips. 
 Filling and keeping records of all personnel documents. 
 Administration of the application processes relating to all training. 
 Administration of the Performance Management processes in the institute. 
 Compile and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual training reports (WSPs and ATRs) 
 Management of employee probation. 
 Ensuring that the Labor related policies are always adhered to. 
 Facilitate the disciplinary and grievance process and act as a secretary during the disciplinary process where necessary. 
 
Requirements: 
 National Diploma/ Degree in Human Resource Management or related. 
 2 years’ experience in HR related environment. 
 Proficiency in MS Office suite. 
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
 A Team Player with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently, accurately, and reliably. 
 A high degree of integrity and confidentiality as well as flexible approach to a busy workload. 
 Strong organizational skills with an ability to multitask without losing the overview. 
 Knowledge of the VIP system will be an added advantage.

The ARC-Plant Health and Protection seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Roodeplaat, Pretoria: 
 
SENIOR RESEARCH TECHNICIAN-WEEDS 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Participate and contribute to national and international research and technology transfer projects on the biological control of invasive weeds and the integrated management of insect pests of crops. 
 Plan, coordinate and undertake laboratory and field research activities. 
 Manage project facilities and equipment, ensure optimum utilisation of project resources and comply with quality standards. 
 Assist with management and operation of project budgets. 
 Manage technician and research assistant staff on the projects and identify capacity requirements. 
 Collect, process, analyse and interpret technical data. 
 Oversee the mass rearing of insect cultures and host plants as part of externally funded projects. 
 Contribute and participate in the preparation of technical reports and scientific publications. 
 Present research results to stakeholders and at local symposia and congresses. 
 Participate in both formal and informal awareness, teaching and training activities conducted by the Institute. 
 Identify and participate in own learning opportunities. 
 
Requirements: 
 M. Tech/ MSc degree in Biological / Environmental Science with 3 years’ work experience OR BSc / B.Tech in Biological Science with 6 years of relevant and proven work experience in biological control and IPM. 
 Prior experience with outreach activities and/or teaching and training. 
 Proficiency in Ms Office Suite. 
 Code B/EB driver’s license required.

 Initiates and manages/contributes towards plant breeding research projects on vegetable crops. 
 Conducts specific research with clear focus on breeding of vegetable crops 
 Acquire, utilise, and maintain germplasms, and develop elite breeding lines. 
 Develop and register elite hybrids, secure Plant Breeder’s Rights, and actively promote their commercialisation. 
 Actively sources and secures new germplasm, research opportunities and funding.
 Compiles and contributes to progress reports (internal and external). 
 Captures, analyses, and interprets data. 
 Provides leadership, supervision and mentoring of postgraduate students, research technicians and assistants. 
 Human resources management to ensure efficient deployment and utilisation, setting objective assessment and training. 
 Disseminates technology through peer-reviewed scientific articles, popular publications, manual production, radio, and TV talks, etc. Initiates and collaborates with national and international organisation. 
 Trains postgraduate students and technical personnel in the use of specialised equipment/instruments and associated software. 
 Compliance with human resource policies and procedures. 
 Compliance with occupational health and safety policies and procedures. 
 
Requirements: 
 PhD in Plant Breeding, (Plant Genetics, Molecular Breeding) or related field OR MSc in Plant Breeding, (Plant Genetics, Molecular Breeding) with 5 years’ experience in Plant Breeding 
 Evidence of publications on breeding in ISI-rated scientific journals. 
 Experience on onion breeding will be an added advantage. 
 Proven track record of generating external income for programme and projects in programme. 
 Proven track record of building national and international partnerships and networks. 
 Proficiency in MS Office suite and Plant Breeding data analysis. 
 Evidence of popular article publications will be an added advantage. 
 Membership in scientific and professional bodies, where applicable. 
 Management skills including research project management.
