The ARC-Animal Production (ARC-AP) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following positions at Irene, Pretoria: 
 
 
PROJECT ACCOUNTANT – FINANCE, IRENE 
Salary (R586 283 – R879 422p.a) all-inclusive remuneration package 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Liaison with the project Manager and Research Team Managers as a link between Finance and Core, 
 Assist project managers with cost management accounting by applying the best practice, 
 Assist Project and Programme managers with the preparation and loading and compile the forecast report, 
 Capture the budget revision where necessary, 
 Ensure that financial risks are well identified and adequately addressed, 
 Ensure that the contract register for all active and signed contracts is kept, 
 All active, but expired contracts need to be supported by an addendum, 
 Ensure proper closing of completed contracts, 
 Compile and evaluate the performance report of each project, 
 Ensure that all audit queries are attended to and resolve as soon as possible, 
 Prepare financial reports and proof of income reports to the funder, 
 Provide leadership and initiatives in the cost and management environment, 
 Analyse and investigate projects variances (Expenses and Revenues) and report finding, 
 head up and regular awareness in matters of concern to the Institute Finance Manager, 
 Maintain the project related data in AX, 
 Ensure that all transactions are processed timeously and proper accruals are put through, 
 Maintain project related records, 
 Assist the |Finance Manager in all matters that need the project accountants input, 
 Assist in mapping all employees to specific project (s), the correct managers and hours allocated to the correct project, 
 Ensure that time sheets are done all projects, 
 Ensure that all the log sheets are captured by deadline, 
 Manage all externally funded projects to avoid operational losses and report losses to the Institute Finance Manager, 
 Ensure income recognition is done in terms of the applicable accounting standards for all externally funded projects, 
 To comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations. 
 
Requirement:
 Bachelor Degree/BCom Degree / National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting or Equivalent qualification /AAT, 
 Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in the finance environment, in the similar environment will be an added advantage, 
 Knowledge of SAGE ERP 
 Good Analytical skills, report writing and organizations skills, 
 Proficiency in MS Office suite, 
 Exposure to the AX system, 
 Good communication skills (verbal and written).

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN: KAONAFATSO YA DIKGOMO, NORTH WEST (3 YEARS FIXED-TERM CONTRACT) 
Salary( R247 537 – 371 307p.a) all-inclusive remuneration package 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Providing animal recording and improvement service to small-holder farmers, 
 Training and recruitment of farmers and teams in Kaonafatso ya Dikgomo beef recording and improvement scheme, 
 Visiting farmers for beef recording and improvement purposes, 
 Training new participants in different phases of beef schemes, 
 Participating in focus sessions/meetings with farmers’ teams/individuals, 
 Collecting information from all-possible sources to compile a database of current herd statistics and performance of livestock owned by resourced poor farmers to derive performance indicators, 
 Participating in the provincial farmer support team to implement the project, 
 Compiling monthly reports. 
 
Requirements: 
 A National Diploma in Animal Production, 
 Motivated and prepared to travel to farms and villages, 
 Good human relations,

The ARC- Natural Resources and Engineering (ARC– NRE) seeks to appoint four highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic students at Arcadia, Pretoria: These students will be appointed to work on a new project funded by the Water Research Commission. This project aims to develop a web-based tool containing climate and water availability information to aid decision-making in the context of agriculture and water resource management
 
The following studentship opportunities are available: 
1. PhD students exploring the suitability of climate and water availability indices, 
2. PhD students examining the relationship between water availability and climate indices and associated impacts on agriculture production, 
3. MSc students focusing on data evaluation and stakeholder engagement, 
 
Requirements:
Applicants should be highly motivated graduates with a strong academic background (e.g., second class Honours and Masters) in Agrometeorology, Climate Science, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Ocean and Atmosphere Science, Water Science, Mathematics, Physics, or similar quantitative fields. Programming experience (or willingness to learn) with Python, R or a similar language is essential, and experience with Github will be favourable for PhD applicants.

The ARC- Vegetables, Industrial and Medicinal Plants (ARC-VIMP) seeks to appoint a highly experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Roodeplaat in Gauteng Province: 
 
HCM - ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT) 
Salary (R 191 510 pa) all- inclusive remuneration package 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Provide general administrative and clerical support, including mailing, scanning, making copies, 
 Filling of document so that HCM record keeping system is kept updated Physical and Electronic, 
 Providing HCM support on all HCM related activities and projects, 
 Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements, 
 HCM Document Management and Confidentiality of information, 
 Comply with OHS regulations and procedures, 
 Assist with completion of OHS documents for the campus, 
 Provide logistical Admin support in all recruitment and selection activities related functions
 Assist in preparing and booking venue for staff orientations, trainings, and any other training related, meetings, ensure attendance registers and record keeping,

Requirements: 
 A National Diploma in Human Resource Management/ Business Administration/Public Administration 
 1 - 2 years’ relevant experience,

 A Team Player with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently, accurately, and reliably, 
 A high degree of integrity and confidentiality as well as flexible approach to a busy workload,
