The ARC-Grain Crops (ARC– GC) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic person to the following position at Potchefstroom & Bethlehem:
ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT (FACILITIES) –GC and SG
Salary (R191 510 – R287 264p.a) all-inclusive remuneration package
Key Performance Areas:
Render administrative assistant and secretarial services provision to the Facilities Manager,
Render effective office administration support to the facilities division such as accurate filing, reports, making copies, preparation of submissions etc,
Provide procurement services in line with relevant prescripts,
Provide logistical arrangements and support,
Render basic financial administration OPEX and CAPEX including budget monitoring and revision,
Schedule appointments, coordinate meetings & events, and travel arrangements,
Keep register for movement of submissions and other documents from Facilities and other line department and Central Office,
Comply with OHS regulations and procedure.
Requirements:
National Diploma in Administration
03 years’ experience in office management and administrative environment.
Computer literacy with MS Office proficiency Customer care, telephone etiquette and front office skills
Excellent communication skills (Written & verbal)

RESEARCH TEAM MANAGER: MEDICINAL & INDUSTRIAL PLANTS - RE-ADVERTISEMENT
Salary (R708 556 – R1 062 835 p.a) all-inclusive remuneration package
Key Performance Areas:
Strategic planning and positioning of research programme nationally and internationally, and specifically the industrial plants sector and the development of a medicinal plants sector,
Operational planning of business unit targets and deliverables for the research programme in the relevant agricultural sectors,
Managing research and innovation portfolio of the programme comprised of multi-disciplinary teams operating within an agricultural commodity context and across value chains of medicinal plants and industrial crops, which includes setting and maintaining the quality of scientific standards of excellence across research fields/disciplines to ensure/increase agricultural sustainability in line with the ARC vision and mission,
Provision of scientific leadership and guidance with regard to specific research field as well as quality control of all scientific outputs, projects, proposals, scientific publications, reports, scientific presentations, popular publications and presentations,
Marketing of the research programme through the establishment of appropriate networks, partnerships and collaboration for projects within the programme nationally and internationally and effective marketing strategies for products and services,
Stakeholder engagements to build new and maintain existing partnerships nationally and internationally,
Reporting on progress of project milestones of the research team and compiling of management reports for the area of responsibility,
Managing all technology transfer and knowledge dissemination initiatives, including farmer’s days, information days, and workshops, training initiatives for dissemination and sharing of knowledge to all actors across the value chains of medicinal and industrial crops, support of farmers and other value chain actors across the value chains towards economically viable production/agro-processing enterprises.
Development of innovative R&D pipelines and commercialisation pipelines and successful commercialisation of IP developed by the research team and establishment of commercial enterprises.
Managing all human resources aspects and communication of the employees within the area of responsibility (performance management, maintaining discipline within the team, conflict management and resolution, recruitment, and allocation of resources to projects and within teams for projects and all other related HR matters),
Manage the transformation programme,
Developing a financially sustainable research programme, through managing finances and optimisation of sustainable long-term external income for programme and projects within area of responsibility, including the submission, negotiation and sourcing of project proposals with research funders,
Development of research grants for national and international funding and providing support to research team for the development of research grants for national and international funding,
Risk mitigation and management in area of responsibility and problem solving in all related areas above
Requirements:
PhD or DSC in Agriculture, Crop Science/Agronomy/Plant Physiology, Agroprocessing or related/relevant qualifications,
8-10 years post PhD experience, least 5 years’ experience in management of research teams in above areas,
Managerial qualifications will be an added advantage,
Proven research and managerial track record in the above field of expertise with extensive publication record,
Proven track record for generating external income for programme and projects in programme,
Proven track record of building national and international partnerships and networks,
Proven track record of strategic and operational planning skills and expertise,
NRF rating will be an added advantage,

Experience and good understanding of commercial and indigenous vegetable production will be an added advantage,

INTERNSHIPS X38: KAONAFATSO YA DIKGOMO - BEEF RECORDING AND IMPROVEMENT SCHEME POSITIONS
(TO BE PLACED IN ALL 9 PROVINCES) (1-YEAR CONTRACT) (Re-Advert).
Key Performance Areas:
Provide animal recording and improvement services to smallholder farmers,
Participate in the training and recruitment of farmers and teams in Kaonafatso ya Dikgomo Beef Recording and Improvement Scheme,
Visit farmers for beef recording and improvement purposes,
Train new participants in different phases of beef schemes,
Participate in focus sessions/meetings with farmers’ teams/individuals,
Collecting information from all possible sources to compile a database of current herd statistics and performance of livestock owned by resourced poor farmers to derive performance indicators,
Participate in the provincial farmer support team to implement the project,
Compile monthly reports.
Requirements:
