The ARC-Animal Production (ARC-AP) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Irene, Pretoria: 
 
FACILITIES OFFICER 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Manage office space planning according to needs of end users, 
 Liaise with scientists and researchers regarding their strategic needs and requirements within the section, 
 Carry out improvement and maintenance of the building, heavy machinery, farm equipment and other equipment such as air conditioner, graders, tractors and frontend diggers and laboratory equipment, 
 Compile AP Facilities budget inputs and adhere to the allocated budget, 
 Ensure compliance with the requirements of Occupational health and safety Act and relevant regulations and that a culture of safety is engendered throughout the Campus, 
 Train personnel to ensure compliance and product optimisation, 
 Ensure and maintain good housekeeping, equipment inspections and testing including facility detection, 
 Identify redundant facilities to use such to raise external income, 
 Supervise and manage technical staff within the section, 
 Implementation and awareness drives and exercise all forms of security to ensure a safe and risk free working environment for all, 
 Assist in the establishment and maintenance of policies and procedures for asset and acquisition, recording, control and disposal, 
 Manage the fleet and all aspects related to transport for the campus, 
 
 
 Undertake effective asset management through the alignment of policies to ensure optimal utilisation, longevity, security and safety of assets, 
 Management of lease agreement and contract i.e., cleaning, security, plumbing, electrical and cooling & registration service etc., 
 Ensure payments of service rendered are paid timeously within the stipulated turnaround period of 30 days, 
 Ensure compliance with finance policies and regulations i.e. PMFA, National Treasury Regulation etc., 
 Undertake ongoing farm inspections across Irene Campus and Outstations pertaining to facilities matters, 
 Facilitate the procurement of facilities items and partake in the acquisition of Capital projects or any adhoc requests. 
 
Requirements: 
 A National Diploma in Facilities Management or equivalent related qualification with built/facilities environment experience, 
 Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Facilities Management, 
 Extensive knowledge of hard/technical and soft services, 
 Knowledge of Supply Chain, Project & Contract Management i.e., management of cleaning, security services and etc., 
 Extensive knowledge and application of Health and Safety Regulation, 
 Computer Literacy and Proficiency in MS Office Suites, 
 Extensive and knowledge of security and assets management, 
 Good communication, problem solving, ability to handle pressure, planning and organisational skills, 
 A valid South African drivers licence, 
 People and business management skills.

The ARC- Onderstepoort Veterinary Research (ARC– OVR) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic persons on a fixed-term contract to the following positions at Onderstepoort, Pretoria: 
 
SENIOR BUYER: SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (8 MONTHS FIXED-TERM CONTRACT) 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Manage the Procurement Function at Institute level (including amongst others: procuring goods and services, liaising with suppliers, obtaining quotations / tenders, guide in developing specifications, negotiating contracts and contract administration according to procurement policy), 
 Cost management by applying best sourcing strategies, 
 Act in direct support to the research function, 
 Evaluation of quotations and tenders in terms of PFMA, PPFFA & Treasury Regulations, 
 Manage the procurement process, 
 Implementation of SCM policy and regulations, 
 Source all suppliers at Institute level and manage Institute Supplier Database,
 Promoting procurement empowerment (BEE/HDI), 
 Ensure compliance to internal controls, 
 Member of local tender committee and will represent the Institute at Corporate Tender Committee level (when the Institute requires CTC-level approval of the appointment of a supplier), 
 Manage the Inventory function (including optimising inventory levels and coordination of stocktaking of stores), 
 Ensure that the risks related to Procurement and Inventory Management are adequately addressed, SCM Reporting to Central Office, 
 Evaluation of suppliers’ performance, 
 Attend to audit queries, 
 Give procurement guidance to business units and management, 
 Manage and provide leadership to subordinates, 
 Tender administration, 
 Provide inputs for budget, 
 
Requirements: 
 Bachelor degree/B-Com/National Diploma in Supply Chain Management specifically in Sourcing, Logistics, Supply Management, Purchasing Management or equivalent.
 Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain Management policies and procedure with at least 2-3 years’ working experience in public sector procurement. 
 Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office Suite, 
 Good Analytical skills, report writing and organizations skills, 
 Good communication and Interpersonal Skills. 
 
 
 
 
BUYER: SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (12 MONTHS FIXED-TERM CONTRACT) 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Performing the function in Supply Chain Management and the processing of transactions in line with the National Treasury regulations and ARC policies for purchase requisitions and issuing of purchase orders, 
 Handling of internal and/or external enquiries and communicating with all stakeholders and suppliers, 
 Compile and submit reports as required, 
 Ensure timely processing of invoices and follow-up on outstanding payments, 
 Stock and warehouse management; receiving and issuing of stock, document tracking and follow-up of order batches for payment, 
 Invitation of quotations, processing of orders and follow of all processes related to such, 
 Ability to identify and resolve challenges in line with the policies and regulations, 
 Ability to use initiative and work independently and/or with the team, 
 Expediting purchase orders, assisting with international procurement and contract procurement, 
 Provide advice on the procurement of goods and/or services including sourcing methods, 
 Render assistance in the stores when required. 
 
Requirements: 
 Bachelor degree/B-Com/National Diploma in Supply Chain Management specifically in Sourcing, Logistics, Supply Management, Purchasing Management or equivalent.
 Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain Management policies and procedure with at least 2-3 years’ working experience in public sector procurement. 
 Involvement on procurement and sourcing of goods and services. 
 Experience with tender processes, CIDB projects and capital equipment. 
 Knowledge and understanding of the PFMA and related policies and regulations. 
 Knowledge and understanding of maintenance, services and procurement of parts for various types of equipment. 
 Knowledge and understanding of contract administration. 
 Understanding the scientific research environment is an added advantage, 
 
 
 
 
 
STORES CLERK (12 MONTHS FIXED-TERM CONTRACT) 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Report to the Supply Chain Accountant, 
 Receive goods, 
 Generate Goods Receipt Notes, 
 Issue goods to end-users, 
 Follow up on outstanding deliveries, 
 Close purchase orders, 
 Match delivery notes, purchase orders and invoices, 
 Efficiently submit documents to Finance, 
 Conduct stock taking on a regular basis as agreed with SCM Accountant, 
 Issue stock, 
 Ensure monthly reconciliation of stock. 
 
Requirements: 
 National Diploma in Logistics or equivalent qualification, 
 2 years relevant experience in supply chain management, 
 Computer literacy, with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
