The ARC- Onderstepoort Veterinary Research (ARC– OVR) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following positions at Onderstepoort, Pretoria: 
 
QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Strategic management and direction of Quality management, 
 Thorough Knowledge of Laboratory QMS and ISO/IEC Standard 17025:2017, DALRRD and OIE requirements, 
 Providing strategic direction for risk management of the organisation, 
 Providing strategic direction for laboratory biosafety and biosecurity management, 
 Experienced in interpretation of data analysis, 
 Compiles detailed quarterly and yearly performance reports with information receive from Officers as well as reports for external stakeholders, 
 Knowledge of and compiles WOAH annual reference laboratory reports after consultation with laboratory experts, 
 Identify and arrange workshops, in-house training or courses for internal and external clients, 
 Successful mentoring/ supervision of Quality Assurance Officers, 
 Ensures compliance with SHE/OHS policies and procedures in collaboration with OHS Officer, 
 Responsible for the budget that includes the annual SANAS fees, proficiency testing schemes, etc, 
 Participation in project planning and training activities relating to the field of expertise, 
 Handling of internal and/or external enquiries and communicating with all stakeholders and suppliers, 
 Compile and submit reports as required. 
 
Requirements: 
 MSc in Quality Assurance Management or related field, 
 Three to five years of experience in related field required with supervisory experience a plus, 
 Knowledge and experience of QMS and ISO/IEC Standards, 
 Knowledge of SANAS documentation and requirements, 
 Knowledge of WOAH reports, documentation and requirements will be an added advantage. 
 Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office Suite, 
 A valid SA driver’s license. 
 Understanding of scientific research environment is an added advantage. 
 Ability to identify and resolve challenges in line with the policies and regulations. 
 Good Analytical skills, report writing and organisations skills.

RESEARCHER: VETERINARIAN: EPV (RE-ADVERTISEMENT) 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Perform veterinary duties in EPV such as animal care and for animal ethics, DAFF section 20 veterinary requirements, supervision of personnel authorized by SAVC and training of animal attendants, 
 Plan and undertake research in field of vector-borne diseases as individual or part of research team, 
 Apply for research grants, 
 Train and transfer knowledge to students, field veterinary officials and farmers, 
 Publication of research in appropriate journals and presentation at relevant national and/or international scientific conferences, 
 Continually update knowledge and develop skills, and translate knowledge of advances in the area into research activity. Further studies to develop career,
 Participate in Programme and Institute-related administrative and other duties as requested by the line manager. 
 
Requirements: 
 BVSc/BVMCh/BVM Veterinary degree, 
 SAVC registered, 
 PhD or MSc with 5 year experience in the biological sciences and publications will be an advantage, 
 A good knowledge of statistical methods is an advantage, 
 Evidence of sourcing or obtaining research funds is an advantage,

The ARC-Plant Health and Protection seeks to appoint an experienced and dynamic person to the following position at the Insect Ecology Division, Roodeplaat campus 
 
RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSISTANT: INSECT ECOLOGY 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Provide assistance with the rearing and maintenance of insect cultures in the laboratory, 
 Provide assistance with the rearing of pest natural enemies (parasitoids and/or predators, 
 Be responsible for planting and maintaining seedlings and plants in the glasshouses, 
 Be responsible for laboratory hygiene measures, 
 Cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and tools, 
 Assist with field work when required, 
 Assist with experimental set ups and data collection, 
 Accurate input of research data onto computer. 
 
Requirements:
 Grade 12 Matric qualification, 
 Experience of working with plants in a nursery/horticulture will be an advantage, 
 Computer literacy, ability to record data on computer, 
 Ability to undertake tasks without supervision, 
 Code B/EB driver’s license is an advantage.

The ARC-Plant Health and Protection seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at the Plant Microbiology Division, ARC-Plant Health and Protection, Roodeplaat campus, Pretoria, Gauteng. 
 
POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW: PLANT VIROLOGY 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Generate banana mutants using DNA vector-based CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and explore ribonucleoprotein-based approaches, 
 Conduct reporter gene assays (GFP, GUS) and transient expression studies, 
 Molecular analysis of target genes using PCR, Sanger and high-throughput sequencing, 
 Screen banana mutants for virus resistance, 
 Support MSc and PhD students, 
 Publish in reputable journals and present at scientific congresses. 
 
Requirements: 
 PhD in Plant Biotechnology/Plant pathology, 
 Experience with agro-transformation and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing in plants is mandatory, 
 Experience in plant virology is desirable, 
 Proven record of publication of scientific papers.

HUMAN CAPITAL ADMINISTRATOR (1 year fixed-term contract) 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Render and maintain quality Human Capital administration services that conform to personnel needs and those of the ARC, 
 Handle Human Capital administration queries, 
 Coordinate the staff recruitment and selection process, i.e., prepare notice of the interviews, schedule and coordinate interviews, conduct reference checks, prepare interview reports, offer letters and employment contracts, 
 Provide HC support for all HCM related activities, 
 Update employees information on the HC system, 
 Assist in the coordination of the reconciliation process of HC instructions to payroll, 
 Administration of conditions of service. 
 
Requirements:
 A Three year Degree or a National Diploma, 
 Two years’ experience in Human Resources Administration, 
 Proficiency in MS Office,
