AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH COUNCIL (ARC)
The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is a premier science institution that conducts research with partners, develops human capital and foster innovation in support of the agricultural sector. It provides diagnostic, laboratory, analytical, agricultural engineering services, post-harvest technology development, agrochemical evaluation, consultation and advisory services, food processing technology services as well as various surveys and training interventions. Through its wider network of research institutes and experimental farms, the ARC provides a strong scientific base and a broadly distributed technology transfer capacity to the entire agricultural industry in South Africa.
The ARC-Central Office (ARC-CO) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Hatfield, Pretoria:
SENIOR MANAGER: SMALLHOLDER AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT
FIVE (5) YEARS’ FIXED-TERM CONTRACT
Key Performance Areas:
Provide leadership in creating linkages between ARC core business and farmer development & commercialization of ARC IP (training & technology transfer).
Create and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with Provincial Departments of Agriculture, Land reform and Rural Development.
Ensure positive relationships with client as indicated by repeat business.
Assist and capacitate ARC campuses to provide training and advisory services to various clients and markets.
Income generation.
Develop and implement strategy for training and advisory services.
Market development for training and advisory services.
Ensure high quality products are delivered to training and advisory clients.
Development of entrepreneurs through sustained interventions and corrective measures.
Monitor and evaluate training provided for the purposes of quality assurance, relevance and continuous improvements – including ensuring relevant accreditation is obtained and maintained.
Requirements:
PhD in Agriculture.
MSc in Agriculture and working towards obtaining a PhD.
10 years ‘experience, of which 5 should have been at management position.
Established networks with the agricultural sector.
Ability to generate external income.
Customer/client skills and experience.
