AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH COUNCIL (ARC)
 
The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is a premier science institution that conducts research with partners, develops human capital and foster innovation in support of the agricultural sector. It provides diagnostic, laboratory, analytical, agricultural engineering services, post-harvest technology development, agrochemical evaluation, consultation and advisory services, food processing technology services as well as various surveys and training interventions. Through its wider network of research institutes and experimental farms, the ARC provides a strong scientific base and a broadly distributed technology transfer capacity to the entire agricultural industry in South Africa.
 
The ARC- Onderstepoort Veterinary Research (ARC– OVR) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following positions at Pretoria:
 
FINANCE MANAGER: OVR (RE-ADVERT)

Key Performance Areas:
 Offer financial management and strategic support,
 Ensure compliance to legislation and ARC policies & procedures,
 Responsible for Institute Financial reporting and GL accounts including related reconciliations
 Liaison with internal and external auditors,
 Performance management of Institute finance and supply chain management staff,
 Prepare Projects financial reports and maintain cost accounting records, Design and implement cost control procedures,
 Produce monthly management accounts, Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecast,
 Monitor financial performances, Implement financial plans, Implement internal controls,
 Risk, Fixed asset and inventory management, Good customer relations,
 Assess financial feasibility and profitability of projects, Staff management,
 Engage in Special projects on an ad hoc basis.
 
 
Requirements:
 B.Com degree or Equivalent qualification in Accounting,
 CA(SA) would be an added advantage,
 5 years’ experience in Financial/Accounting field of which 2 years must have been at Junior to Middle management level,
 In Depth Knowledge of Public Financial Management Act,
 Treasury Regulations, Agricultural Research Act and GRAP,
 Strong team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently and accurately,
 Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi task,
 Attention to detail and deadline driven,
 A high degree of integrity, tact confidentiality and a flexible approach to a busy workload,
 Ability to work independently and in a team,
 Technical and professional knowledge and skills.
