AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH COUNCIL (ARC)
 
The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is a premier science institution that conducts research with partners, develops human capital and foster innovation in support of the agricultural sector. It provides diagnostic, laboratory, analytical, agricultural engineering services, post-harvest technology development, agrochemical evaluation, consultation and advisory services, food processing technology services as well as various surveys and training interventions. Through its wider network of research institutes and experimental farms, the ARC provides a strong scientific base and a broadly distributed technology transfer capacity to the entire agricultural industry in South Africa.
 
The ARC-Animal Production (ARC-AP) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following positions at Irene, Pretoria:
 
 
BUYER – SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
 
Key Performance Areas:
 Process purchase requisition and create orders to suppliers,
 Obtaining quotations from different suppliers,
 Liaison with suppliers,
 Using the 80/20 rule on purchases over R30 000.00,
 Diverse supply chain administration functions,
 Rendering of equal SCM administrative functions,
 Management and record keeping of requisitions,
 Placing of orders and follow up on outstanding transactions,
 Ensuring that ordered items are obtained at the best prices rendering a quality financial service,
 Ensuring that accurate information is provided to management,
 Rendering a quality and on-time financial administrative service,
 Ensuring optimal asset management,
 Rendering an efficient stock control service,
 Ensuring optimal client satisfaction,
 Ensuring compliance with safety regulations at all times.

Requirements:
 National Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification,
 3 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management or a similar environment,
 Registration with Association of Accounting Technicians will be an added advantage,
 Knowledge, experience and understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA),
 Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA) and related legislation,
 Proficiency in MS Office Suite,
 Exposure to AX System,
 Good analytical skills report writing, good organisational skills,
 Good communication skills written and verbal.

JUNIOR RESEARCH TECHNICIAN: AQUACULTURE – TWO (2) YEARS SIX MONTH FIXED CONTRACT (RE-ADVERT)
 
Key Performance Areas:
 Assists in aquaculture projects or performs routine activities under supervision,
 Assists in coordinating of work activities of fish hatchery,
 Coordinating of work activities and supervises allocated HR resources if applicable,
 Adheres to financial administrative controls,
 Adheres to work plans and activities,
 Utilizes equipment and materials,
 Provides research support, diagnostics, and other services,
 Collects, captures and processes data with basic analysis,
 Provides verbal, written reports on work activities and results,
 Adheres to quality standards,
 Assists in optimizing of equipment and processes or systems under supervision,
 Assists in the preparation of presentations,
 Assists with basic activities related to research services,
 Is aware of Intellectual Property opportunities.
 
Requirements:
 Grade 12 with 6 years relevant experience in fish management or aquaculture,
 Currently studying towards a Diploma or Degree in Aquaculture with 2 years theory & the progress report will be an added advantage,
 Have verbal and written communication skills,
 Identifies and participates in own learning opportunities,
 Complies with SHE/OHS regulations and procedures.
