POST OW-TM: System Area 1 Manager: Ruensveld-West: Caledon: Operations Division 
SALARY: Remuneration & Benefits (TOTAL COST TO COMPANY) is offered to attract the right caliber candidate. 
CENTRE: OVERBERG WATER BOARD, (System1: Ruensveld-West: Caledon, WESTERN CAPE. 
Overberg Water is a Water Board established in terms of section 28 of Water Services Act, (No 108 of 1997) and is classified as Government Business Enterprise as per Schedule 3B of the Public Finance Management Act (No. 1 of 1999) as amended. 
 
Operating as a member of the Waterworks System, reporting directly to the Technical Manager. The successful candidate will be required to lead and manage the following functions: Manage and Monitor the available Water Resources to meet customer demands 
• Monitor and advise Water and Wastewater treatment operations 
• Manage Water and Wastewater distribution to meet customer demands 
• Perform general management and administrative functions to ensure operational efficiency and compliance. 
• Qualified and experienced to sign off projects reports such as inception, preliminary, close-out, final designs, and any other associated Engineering project reports. 
• Assess and rehabilitate pumps and motors 
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 
Educational level 
  • N Diploma/B-Tech/BSc in Mechanical/Civil/Electrical engineering or equivalent 
  • Registration with ECSA as a Professional Technician, Technologist or Engineer is compulsory.
  • Minimum 8 years water services experience or at least in a relevant infrastructure sector. 
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in an infrastructure environment. 
  • Project management experience with a good track record or equivalent with no less than 8 years water services experience. 
  • Formal Management Qualification, i.e PMP or equivalent is an added advantage. 
  • Minimum 5 years working with pumps, motors and valves in the bulk water industry 
 
TECHNICAL AND FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES: 
To manage the running of the System Area1: Ruensveld-West: Caledon water purification as well as distribution pipeline networks. To ensure that the Overberg Water Board achieves its corporate plan objectives. Ensure that both systems have been run within the approved operational, capital and infrastructure budget.
