Duties and responsibilities:

•    Lead and coordinate the UFS Terminology Development Project activities.

•    Conduct research in the areas of the development of African languages, terminology development, and multilingualism initiatives. 

•    Coordinate language policy implementation initiatives in the Academy for Multilingualism.

•    Work in collaboration with UFS faculties and departments, and external stakeholders on terminology development projects.   

 

Inherent requirements:

•    A PhD on NQF Level 10 in the field of languages, linguistics, terminology development, lexicography or related language studies (permanent appointment), 

or

•    A Master of Arts degree on NQF Level 9 in the field of languages, linguistics, terminology development, lexicography or related language studies (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in the field of languages, linguistics, terminology development, lexicography or related language studies must be obtained to be converted to a permanent position).

•    A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in a terminology development project.

•    Have worked in a Higher Education Institution or any Government Department or Entity that specialises in African Language development activities.

•    Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.

 

Recommendations:

•    A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a Higher Education or Government institution that specialises in African Languages promotion.

•    Hold an Honours degree on NQF Level 8 in the field of African Languages studies or a related field.

•    Knowledge of Sesotho Language, terminology development, and lexicography.

Duties and responsibilities:

•    Open a docket or inquiry in respect of reported incidents or crimes.

•    Conduct investigations in respect of on- and off-campus reported crimes or incidents.

•    Open inquiries in respect of reported incidents off campus and arrange for the necessary assistance to students.

•    Interview suspects and victims according to Protection Services Guidelines for Investigations.

•    Submit the docket and/ or enquiry document to the Line Manager after an investigation is concluded in consultation with the Line Manager.

•    Report serious incidents and cases, such as murder, death threats and others, to the Line Manager.

•    Compile an investigation report after the investigation is concluded.

•    Compile an investigation report in serious cases for submission to the Executive Management Committee via the office of the Assistant Director: Investigation Services.

•    Liaise with SAPS Investigators/ Detectives for updates regarding reported cases involving UFS staff and /or students.

•    Establish a close working relationship with the student bodies in relation to investigations, incidents reported and not reported, and involve them in the search for solutions.

•    Provide assistance and support to Operational Security in relation to security and crime awareness campaigns for staff and students.

•    Identify potential issues that can be addressed in awareness campaigns and escalate to the relevant site managers/ line managers, e.g., the boundaries campaign, the GBV campaign, the substance abuse campaign, etc.

•    Recruit and manage own informers.

•    Collect and share information on planned crime incidents and stability issues that can impact on the institution, staff and students.

•    Identify and detect actual and perceived threats facing the university through the collection of stability-related and crime-related intelligence.

•    Sensitise Line Management to all collected information to enable proper implementation of security countermeasures and to ensure all available information is shared via the Protection Services Site Managers.

•    Determine crime patterns using various sources such as Online Intelligence Risk Manager and regular liaison with SAPS, etc.

•    Collect crime stats weekly and monthly from SAPS and analyse the statistics.

•    Represent Protection Services during awareness sessions for new students.

•    Ensure availability and accessibility of all crime-related information through the submission of intelligence/ information reports on the CiiMS Platform (Information Reports).

•    Ensure availability of serious incident/ crime reports and submit to Line Management for approval before dissemination to clients.

•    Ensure that reported incidents are captured on CiiMS and escalated to investigations as required.

•    Ensure that all information is updated on CiiMS and that profiles are created for all offenders/ alleged offenders identified and linked to relevant cases.

•    Ensure that dockets are closed out and the system updated.

 

Inherent requirements:

•    A three (3) year National Diploma on NQF Level 6 in Forensic Investigation, Policing, Security Management or closely related field.

•    A valid South African driver’s license (attach a copy).

•    A minimum of three (3) years' experience in an investigation environment.

•    A valid Grade B PSIRA certificate (attach a copy) or willingness to acquire at own cost within six (6) months of employment.

 

Recommendations:

•    Experience in a higher education environment.

•    Formal training in criminal investigation (attach proof).

•    Formal training in a crime intelligence environment (attach proof).

•    Proven experience in supervision of Honours/MSc/PhD students.

 

Recommendations:

•    Served as a member of an international scholarly society OR an international committee or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels.

•    Relevant industry experience as an HR Practitioner. 

 

Recommendations

•    A minimum of five (5) years of proven expertise and practical experience in the field of Human Resource or Human Capital or a closely related field.

•    A track record in international cooperation.

•    Strong knowledge of labour legislation, Human Capital practices, organisational behaviour, and ability to integrate digital transformation and modern HCM technology into curriculum to promote responsible, sustainable, and enterprising human resource management scholarship and practices in variety of organizations.

•    Ability to communicate research results to clientele groups.

•    A track record of engaging with the industry and must have been involved in securing funding.

•    Proven skills in data analysis using IBM SPSS, AMOS, PLS.

•    Member of a or registration at a professional body (attach proof). 

•    Experience as a departmental leader/ manager in a higher education environment.
