The position requires an academic who is willing to engage with curriculum development and delivery and who will play a leading role in teaching and research in the Curriculum and Education Studies discipline. 

 

The incumbent will report to the Head of Discipline. 

 

Minimum requirements

  • A Doctoral degree (NQF level 10) in Curriculum and Education Studies or other related disciplines  
  • At least 6 years of working and relevant experience in either teaching, research, or industry. 
  • Evidence of current and sustained publication of independent research in quality scientific journals, appropriate for the level (18 - 30).  
  • Evidence of sustained and successful attraction of external research grants. 
  • A sustained track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and PhD levels, appropriate for the level. 
  • Evidence of national and international recognition in a research area within the discipline. 
  • Evidence of strong and sustained academic leadership within the Department / School/ College/ University, which includes mentorship and coaching.

Job description

To provide Primary Health Care services, deliver comprehensive care focusing on prevention, and Provide Health education for students and staff at the campus health clinic. Management of medical emergencies. Collaborate within the Occupational Health Care and Aids program teams while working within the confines /requirements of the South African Nursing Council, Department of Health, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and any other legislation, and to abide by University policy and procedure to provide a safe and healthy working environment

 

Minimum requirements

  • A relevant three-year Diploma or Degree in Nursing with Midwifery
  • Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Primary Health Care
  • Dispensing Certificate
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Three (3) years of clinical experience in Primary Health Care
  • Staff supervisory experience
  • A valid driver’s license

 

Statutory Requirements

  • To comply with the South African Nursing Council scope of practice, Department of National Health Guidelines, Medicine and Related Substances Act 101of 1965, Occupational Health Safety Act, and its regulations

 

Other Requirements 

  • Be able to work under pressure
  • Work with minimum supervision
  • Be able to work after hours and during weekends when necessary
