JOB PURPOSE

The Operator (Basic) is responsible for carrying out general line operations and cleaning regimes according to planned operational requirements in order to safely deliver a good quality packed product. As a core member of the operations team the Operator (Basic) plays an important role in maintaining line safety and will identify process or line issues to leaders.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE
- Start-Up/Shutdown procedures - Carries out pre start-up checks to ensure that the area and equipment is clean and is in a safe condition as per the SOP. Assists shutting down equipment and the area as per the SOP.
- Cleaning –Performs initial inspection and cleaning as per SOPs. Will alert team leaders to potential sources of contamination and dirt identified in inaccessible places.
- Material Availability - Provides a continuous supply of appropriate packaging material from storage areas to demarcated storage areas as per existing 5S standards.
- Quality - Monitors quality against set standards and reports any product and packaging faults. Detects process abnormalities quickly and takes emergency action to prevent them.
- Administration – Conducts effective hand-over activities and accurately records events that have occurred during shift (cases packed/rejects etc).
- Safety – Full knowledge and understanding of all safe practices and systems relevant to the Sourcing Unit and the legal responsibility placed upon individuals. Must actively contribute to the safe working environment.
- Workplace Hazards - Full knowledge of workplace and hazards within it. Utilise appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment relevant to the task.
- Environment - Reduce costs due to waste and minimise impact to health, safety and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct handling of waste and hazardous materials. Must actively contribute to an eco-efficient environment.
- Continuous Improvement – An awareness of how to use performance measures to identify and prioritise losses in production area; provides description of problems and can provide monitoring of process or line issues.

Essential
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Math’s and Science OR N3 in Engineering
- National school leaver qualifications in Reading and Comprehension, Writing and Mathematics.(Matric) This will support recording of data and general teamwork skills with emphasis on good communication.
- Experience of manufacturing in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Company. (FMCG)

JOB PURPOSE
This role exists to manage and control the end-to-end fixed asset lifecycle, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with internal controls, maintain strong accounting controls aligned with the Unilever’s Global Financial Controls Framework (GFCF)and alignment with CAPEX governance within the Supply Chain Finance environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fixed Asset Accounting & Controls
- Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring completeness and accuracy of asset capitalization, transfers, and retirements
- Ensure all asset transactions are compliant with company policies and accounting standards
- Perform monthly asset reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Monitor depreciation calculations and validate system outputs
- CAPEX Governance & Support
- Support CAPEX planning, forecasting, and tracking processes
- Validate asset creation against approved CAPEX projects and business cases
- Ensure adherence to CAPEX approval frameworks and documentation requirements
- Participate in CAPEX review forums (e.g., decision forums, stand-ups)
- Asset Lifecycle Management
- Oversee asset creation, modification, transfer, and disposal processes in SAP
- Ensure timely closure of completed CAPEX projects and asset capitalization
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams on asset movements
- Audit, Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX / MTD controls)
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations
- Address audit findings and implement remediation actions

- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual asset reports

JOB PURPOSE
The Technical Skills Trainer leads all technical training interventions for the sourcing units and is necessarily an experienced mechanical and/or electrical technician with an excellent ability to teach, coach and mentor.
The Skills Trainer will coordinate and deliver course training for all technical levels, develop Technical Operators, and Technician Apprentices in accordance with Unilever curriculum requirements. They will liaise with other training providers where it is advantageous to use their capabilities.
Within the factories, the Skills Trainer will continue to support the development and progression of trained Technicians, Artisans and Technical Operators through the skills audit and the HR for Factories Integrated Training system. Operational training interventions will be varied, but often involve legislative safety and hazard awareness training, and loss-based training.
Additionally, the Skills Trainer will offer guidance and measurement frameworks for recruiting technical skills across the sourcing units. The Skills Trainer is also responsible for the proper maintenance and safe running of on-site training facilities and materials.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE
Technical Training & Capability Building
- Deliver engineering technical training across mechanical and electrical disciplines, using a coaching and mentoring approach
- Develop engaging training materials and maintain accurate training records
- Build and enhance on-site technical capability for Technical Operators, Machine Specialists, ICE Technicians, and Artisans
Training Strategy & Execution
- Execute the site training strategy and drive associated action plans to address technical capability and development needs
- Maintain and update the Technical Skills Matrix and assessment records
- Capture and track all training activities on the LMS platform
- Support the population of Workplace Skills Plan (WSP), Annual Training Report (ATR), and BBBEE training spend tracking
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure site compliance with training standards, including the development of training and assessment tools

Safety, Quality & Environment
- Promote a strong understanding of workplace hazards and ensure adherence to all safety and environmental procedures

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years’ experience as an Artisan, with at least 3 years in Factory Training within a technical, FMCG, or manufacturing environment
- N6 in Mechanical and or Electrical Engineering
- Trade Tested Artisan
- Accredited or Working towards Assessor, Facilitator and Material design and development is preferred
- Strong coaching and communication skills supporting some instructional experience in a previous role. Must display an ability to engage and enthuse.
- WCM/TPM/ Lean Manufacturing/ Continuous Improvement mind set.
- Solid experience identifying training gaps and implementing training programs
- Proficient with leading training agendas and leading Learnerships/ SETA programs
- Proven track record on the impact of focused Programme and Development – use of training methodologies i.e. how this has improved productivity
- Must have in depth knowledge of Training Analysis
- Strong understanding of Unions (Unionised environment)
