ASSISTANT FINANCIAL PLANNER

 

uMngeni-uThukela Water was gazetted by the Minister of Water and Sanitation and established, with effect the 01st July 2023, through the reconfiguration of Mhlathuze Water and Umgeni Water. The core business of the entity is to provide bulk water and related services to other water services institutions and customers in its gazetted service area covering the entire Kwa-Zulu Natal province. The entity operates in accordance with the Water Services Act (Act 108 of 1997) and the Public Finance Management Act (Act 1 of 1999), among others, and is categorised as a National Government Business Enterprise. uMngeni-uThukela reports directly to the Minister of Water and Sanitation, through the Board (Accounting Authority) and through its functionaries, the Chairperson of the Board and the Chief Executive.

 

Reporting: Manager - Financial Planning

 

Purpose of the job:

To provide support in the financial planning and budgeting processes of the organization, including data gathering, financial analysis, preparation of reports, and administrative tasks *To ensure accurate and timely financial inputs to support decision-making and compliance with financial regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Bulk Water and Waste Water Tariff Setting *Corporate Financial Business Plan *Project Evaluation & Prioritization Models *Application for Funding of Projects *General Management.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

B Comm (NQF Level 7) with majors in Accounting and Cost Accounting and Managerial Finance. Desirable Qualifications: Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning and Analysis.

 

Minimum Experience:

3 years in a Cost Accounting and Managerial Finance.

 

Technical and Functional Competencies:

Knowledge of the PFMA and Water Services Act to ensure Financial proposals are not in contravention of the applicable legislation *Produce financial models and attention to details

*Proficient computer technical skills preferably with SAP *Knowledge of Budgeting and Forecasting techniques *Knowledge of Costing and Managerial Finance.

Analytical Thinking Skills *Planning and Organising *Attention to Detail *Communication Skills *Deadline Driven.
