uMngeni-uThukela Water was gazetted by the Minister of Water and Sanitation and established, with effect the 01st July 2023, through the reconfiguration of Mhlathuze Water and Umgeni Water. The core business of the entity is to provide bulk water and related services to other water services institutions and customers in its gazetted service area covering the entire Kwa-Zulu Natal province. The entity operates in accordance with the Water Services Act (Act 108 of 1997) and the Public Finance Management Act (Act 1 of 1999), among others, and is categorised as a National Government Business Enterprise. uMngeni-uThukela reports directly to the Minister of Water and Sanitation, through the Board (Accounting Authority) and through its functionaries, the Chairperson of the Board and the Chief Executive.
Reporting:
Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for the position of Facilities Management Co-ordinator reporting to the Senior Manager-Facilities and Property Management and whose key characteristics are mentioned below.
Purpose of the job:
To coordinate the upkeep of the buildings to be fit for purpose in the form of planned and unplanned maintenance activities, emergencies, building faults management in order to ensure that UUW’s Head Office and Regional Offices and other satellite facilities are maintained effectively and consistently fit for use * To serve as a liaison between company employees and outside contractors called in to fix problems.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and execute preventative maintenance activities * Establish systems and standards to support service delivery * Manage execution of unplanned maintenance jobs * Conduct functional management and administration activities * People and General Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Matric with National Diploma (NQF 6) in Property Management, Facilities Management, Maintenance Planning, Real Estate. Desirable Qualification: Degree in Real Estate, Property Management, Facilities Management, Maintenance Planning.
Minimum Experience:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Property Management, Facilities Management, Maintenance Planning.
Technical and Functional Competencies:
Ability to develop and implement planned and unplanned maintenance strategies * Ability to prioritise, plan, schedule and execute maintenance tasks * Ability to identify and interpret property related data or information * Ability to communicate technical information effectively to all levels of employees – verbally and in writing * Ability to identify infrastructural risks in the work environment and devise mitigation actions * Insight into contractor management and control * Functional financial and budgeting skills.
