The Directorate of Finance: Procurement Services has a permanent position for the Senior Buyer: Tenders at the Pretoria Campus. 

The position requires management of the acquisition of goods and services through the tender process as well as management of PMIS within the institution. 

 

Key Performance Areas: 

·       Planning and organising the tender activities of the University. 

·       Liaison with the user departments to obtain specifications. 

·       Liaison with the Tender Committee for tender approvals. 

·       Execution of tender policy in line with the Procurement Policy. 

·       Compilation of tender and quotation documentation. 

·       Advertising and distribution of tender and quotation documentation 

·       Arrangement and administration of briefing sessions of advertised tenders. 

·       Arrangement and administration of site inspections with prospective bidders. 

·       Opening of tenders and high value quotations 

·       Evaluation of offers from prospective bidders. 

·       Submissions to Tender Committee and EMC. 

·       Administration and documentation of approvals/referrals. 

·       Preparation of orders for approved tenders. 

·       Ongoing update of supplier database. 

·       Opening of creditor code on successful completion of bid. 

·       Administration of vendor registration forms. 

·       Screening of vendors before registration onto database. 

·       PMIS Systems Manager on ITS 

 

Minimum Requirements: 

·       NQF level 7; A bachelor’s degree or a Higher / Advanced Diploma in Logistics/Warehousing/Procurement/Supply Chain Management related qualification. 

Plus

·       3 years’ experience in demand and acquisition management at Supervisory/Administrator/Junior Practitioner level. 

·       Knowledge of tender management activities will be an added advantage. 

 

Knowledge and Skills 

·       ITS (PMIS) system and the integration with other subsystems 

·       Project and production planning techniques. 

·       Detail knowledge of tender processes, procedures, bi-laws, and regulations. 

·       Financial aspects relating to purchasing and logistics. 

·       Wide general knowledge regarding technical aspects relating to goods and services needed by the University. 

·       System training on ITS is essential. 

·       Advanced training related to Supply Chain Management and acquisitioning of goods and services through an acknowledged tendering system would be an advantage. 

·       Negotiation skills

The Department of Electrical Engineering has a full-time Lecturer position in Electronics and Digital Systems at the Pretoria Campus.

Key performance areas/Core functions: 

·       To present student-centered lectures, learning, and assessments of students in related subjects.

·       To be an active participant in the research activities of the department in the field of Electronics and Digital Systems.

·       Liaise with industry on course and subject levels regarding curricula, visits, research, and other interactions.

Minimum Requirement 

 

Academic qualifications: 

A relevant master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Electrical Engineering with a strong background in Electronics and Digital Systems. 

 

Experience: 

·       Three (3) years of relevant teaching experience in education and/or 3 year experience in industry. 

·       Experience in the supervision of students at Master’s level will be an added advantage. 

·       A noteworthy contribution to academic/research outputs in accredited journals and peer-reviewed conferences. 

·       Teaching, research and/or relevant experience in industry would be a strong recommendation. 

·       Experience with regards to management of academic matters, quality of programs, student affairs and research projects. 

·       Experience in research and monitoring of postgraduate students is recommended. 

·       Supervisory experience in industry and/or academic fields will be an strong recommendation 

·       Industry liaison and involvement in Centres, Institutes and Technology Stations, will be an added advantage. 

·       Industry liaison and involvement in the development of new curriculum will be an added advantage. 

 

The following Knowledge and Skills would be advantageous: 

·       Passive and active components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, FETs), power supplies, small-signal amplifiers, signal analysis, circuit modeling, fault diagnosis. 

·       Number systems, logic gates, Boolean algebra, Karnaugh maps, combinational and sequential logic, adders, multiplexers, counters, registers, ADC/DAC, TTL/CMOS, basic PLDs, use of data sheets. 

·       PCB preparation, through-hole and surface-mount assembly, soldering, testing, inspection, cleaning, and packaging of electronic assemblies. 

·       Use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies; circuit testing; troubleshooting; supervising experiments. 

·       Ability to present technical concepts clearly, design and mark assessments, provide feedback, manage continuous assessments. 

·       Familiarity with simulation tools, schematics/PCB design, basic programming, and industry practice.

• Operate lawn mowers to level the grass and fields

• Prepare cuts and fills and finish grading work according to standardized instructions

• Use of various related chemicals relating to the duty e.g. Pesticides, Pool Chemicals etc. 

• Check and maintain the irrigation sprinklers and replace them when not working.

• Water by hand and/or by operating a sprinkler system
