SENIOR AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Position Purpose

To ensure compliance with the South African Civil Aviation Regulations, Part 145 with regard to managing all engineers and maintenance operations at Port of operation as well as maintain high standards and discipline all while ensuring an uninterrupted helicopter service.

 

Position Outputs

Perform all mandatory periodic inspections (MPI) on TNPA aircraft as determined by local authority and equipment manufacturer.

Rectify all technical defects in accordance with approved procedures.

Ensure airworthiness and readiness of TNPA aircraft for efficient service delivery.

Manage all engineering staff at Port of operation on behalf of the Chief Aviation Engineer.

Ensure that all maintenance activities are performed to the highest standards at Port of operation.

Liaise with the Chief Aviation Engineer on daily basis with regard to operational planning and maintenance issues and requirements.

Ensure that the maintenance facilities are maintained and kept in compliance with SACAA and any other regulatory bodies.

Work closely with the Base Manager with regard to operational planning.

Co-ordinate and plan all MPI’s together with the Chief Aviation Engineer and Maintenance planner.

Facilitate all engineering staff’s HR queries.

Together with the Base Manager keep all stakeholders informed of aircraft status.

Represent Transnet’s AMO during any audits that the SACAA or any other regulatory bodies may conduct.

Ensure that all issues raised relating to airworthiness are dealt with immediately.

Provide information to Senior Manager: Aviation, Operations Manager and Chief Engineer as and when required.

Record all activities being performed through the use of approved documentation in a clear and concise manner showing all actions taken as a result of work accomplished.

Maintain sound technical practices.

Thorough knowledge and application of the requirements of the Manual of Procedures, CAR’s of 2011, Approved Schedules, Manufacturers Manuals Airworthiness Directives and Airworthiness Notices.

Accurate trouble isolation of defects and rectification

Certify own work and as well as countersigning work of other engineers as well as junior engineers in training.

Maintain vigilance at all times for discrepancies, which may occur during operation of aircraft and rectify them correctly in the shortest possible time.

Hold current AME license with ratings applicable to TNPA aircraft.

Ensure that TNPA aircraft have valid and correct technical documentation at all times.

Maintain sound technical practices at all times and adhere to airworthiness codes.

Log all activities being performed through the use of approved documentation in a clear and concise manner showing all actions taken and work accomplished.

Ensure optimum ground support for TNPA aircraft.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Hold a valid AME license (Mechanical or Avionic) · Grade 12 · Trade Certificate · Rotorcraft General Certificate or Instruments Equipment Certificate · Engine General Certificate or Avionic Equipment Certificate · Airframe General Certificate or Compass Swing Certificate · Civil Aviation Regulations Certificate · Human Factors Certificate · Safety Management System certificate · Minimum 8 years’ aircraft maintenance experience, 4 of which must be on helicopters. ·Management qualification will be an added advantage · Experience with twin-engine helicopters in an offshore environment will be an added advantage. Position Purpose

To ensure the optimal utilisation of high voltage overhead track equipment by performing maintenance, alterations, construction and repairs to overhead track equipment, transmission line and negative return circuits according to prescribed quality and safety standards in live and dead working conditions.

 

Position Outputs

1.To supervise trade hands, infra-assistants, trainee traction linesman, contractors and unauthorised personnel ▪To ensure that all workers have the correct PPE ▪To provide instructions to the team ▪To put control measures in place to ensure that tasks are completed ▪To ensure that the team understands the tasks needed to be performed ▪To explain the dangers involved in the tasks to be performed ▪To maintain a presence on site so that instructions are adhered to ▪To ensure that the right materials and tools are used ▪To ensure that there is sufficient manpower and capacity to perform tasks ▪To render first aid and hazmat when necessary

Position Purpose

• Forms part of the engine room management team of the harbour craft as second engineer under the direction of the Chief Engineer Officer.

• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of plant, equipment and machinery, including operational watchkeeping duties, performance or routine and unplanned maintenance in order to ensure a safe and efficient craft service to clients.

• To safeguard Company Assets as per legislative requirements i.t.o. the Merchant Shipping Act.

• Maintain and operate all machinery and equipment aboard crafts.

Position Outputs

Carry out independent watchkeeping duties in the engine room
