SARS is looking for an experienced English Language Editor / Practitioner, who is a self-motivated, passionate person who can work with multiple cross functional teams, various stakeholders and systems. He/she must be a team player and have the ability to perform without constant supervision and guidance.

Job Purpose

To provide expertise, advise and support to develop operational implementation plans and/or associated service delivery processes by aligning technical and language editions strategies in order to continuously enhance service delivery.

 

Education and Experience

 

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

 

Bachelor's Degree in Language Practice with applicable majors at NQF 7/ Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) AND 5-7 years' experience as a Language Editor, Editing & Proof-Reading services of which 2-3 years is at a technically skilled level.

ALTERNATIVE

A Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 10 years’ experience as a Language Editor, Editing & Proof-Reading services, of which 2-3 years is at a technically skilled level.

 

Minimum Functional Requirements

  • Functional experience in Editing and Proof-reading service.
  • Database development and maintenance.
  • Basic research skills.

  • Identify and resolve queries and problems timeously, apply discretion in line with process guidelines provided and escalate unresolved problems.

  • Execute specialist input through investigation &opportunities within the product process including risk concern.
  • Provide specialist input through the investigation of opportunities for operational and process product and risk optimisation.

  • Draw on own knowledge and experience to diagnose symptoms, causes and possible effects in order to solve emerging problems.
  • Initiate process and procedural change, implement the change and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
  • Accumulate information to review work progress that provides input to reporting, decision making and the identification of improvement opportunities.
  • Apply practical and applied knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.
  • Communication of situational interpretation and judgement of work outputs and queries in area of specialisation.
  • Correctly apply policies, practices, standards, procedures and legislation in the delivery of work outputs.

To maintain Regional Corporate Real Estate (CRE) buildings/infrastructure by ensuring that all operational maintenance and facilities objectives are achieved

Process

  • Assist with arrangements and serve tea/coffee for official meetings and be responsible for clean water, glasses, and bottles in conference rooms.
  • Assist with completion of the order/ stock requisition in respect of short kitchen stock and unpack stock when it arrives.
  • Perform cleaning duties according to agreed quality standards and time parameters.
  • Prepare all serving utensils, food, and beverages prior to the commencement of meetings and clean up after an event (clearing and washing up).
  • Prepare tea and other refreshments for meetings and functions when required.
  • Serve tea and coffee on time and control kitchen stock [coffee, tea, milk, sugar, cleaning materials, etc] and update responsible person when stock levels are low.
  • Wash dishcloths and wash kitchen cupboards, fridge, microwave oven when necessary.
  • Adhere to and apply changes to own work processes as instructed.
  • Communication of progress on requests.
  • Ensure quality of work content, minimise mistakes and improve quality and service.
  • Plan and organise own work tasks within area of work.
  • Report on daily task activities to provide timely information for decision making.
