About the Position
The goal is to enhance service delivery by providing expertise, advice, and support in developing operational implementation plans and processes, facilitating analysis, decision-making, and reporting requirements.
Job Purpose
To provide expertise, advice and support to develop operational implementation plans and / or associated service delivery processes, by preparing, collecting, reviewing and compiling information required to facilitate analysis, review, decision making or reporting requirements of functional area, in order to continuously enhance service delivery.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
Relevant Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Accounting, Taxation or Finance field and 5 - 7 years’ experience in a Financial Sector, of which 2 – 3 years at technically skills level.
Alternative #
Senior Certificate (NQF 4) and 10 years of experience in a Financial Sector, of which 2 – 3 years at technically skills level.

The Junior Debt Collector will report directly to the Ops Manager: Debt Management and will be based in Welkom. He/she will be required to deal with Taxpayers’ and their accounts in a professional manner upholding the SARS Values.

Job Purpose
To effectively apply basic knowledge of understanding of debt collection processes on outstanding debt and returns for CIT, PIT, PAYE, and VAT tax types, through face-to-face, virtual and digital platforms, in line with the relevant South African Tax Laws and SARS policies and procedures within specific turnaround times to deliver on the SARS strategic objectives, thereby ensuring enhanced service delivery and compliance, with full guidance.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
Higher Certificate (NQF 5) in Taxation or Financial Accounting or Law and 3 years’ experience in a debt collections, finance or law environment.
ALTERNATIVE
Senior Certificate (NQF4) and 4 years’ experience in a debt collections, finance or law environment

- Issue Final Demand if the taxpayer remains non-compliant including manual Final Demand when applicable.
- Navigate SARS systems to extract relevant information and execute work on Service Manager in line with allocated work.
- Prepare and complete Payment Arrangements for requests for Simplified Deferment request (Up to R5M and less than 6 months) within the specified turnaround times.
- Profile a taxpayer, interpret statement of account, and engage taxpayers with outstanding debt and outstanding returns.
- Report on transactional and process activities within set guidelines to provide timely information for decision making.
