Job Purpose

To independently plan and conduct complex audits and understanding the risk implications across other tax types, in compliance with all legislative requirements.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the ability to finalize audit and verification cases in accordance with the required standards and legislation.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to deal with objections.
  • Demonstrate the ability to improve the quality of the work to be produced
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Under Statement Penalties policy and application thereof
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the audit verifications life cycle and expectations
  • Demonstrate the ability to detect and identify fraudulent cases and how to handle such cases
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the governance and other ethical requirements imposed on SARS employees while performing their duties.

 

Process

  • Be informed on related acts, legislation and regulations that might impact on own work.
  • Be observant and engage on possible violations of regulations, policies, SOPs and standards of conduct and escalate where necessary.
  • Conduct standard (limited scope) audits to ensure compliance with the relevant acts.
  • Plan and organise own work tasks within area of work.
  • Prepare and present submissions to interest and penalty committee.
  • Take accountability for delivery of contracted work outputs within agreed parameters, quality standards and client service targets.
  • Accumulate information and provide reports with recommendations applicable to area of specialisation.
  • Apply practical and applied knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.
  • Communication of situational interpretation and judgement of work outputs and queries in area of specialisation.
  • Correctly apply applicable legislation, including amongst others policies, procedures, and SOPs in the delivery of work outputs.
  • Effectively plan and schedule own activities to continuously improve quality and service delivery in area of specialisation.
  • Execute process and procedural change, implement the change and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
  • Use practical and applied knowledge and situational judgement to consider policy implications and to arrive at decisions / conclusions.

 

Education and Experience

National Diploma / Higher Certificate (NQF 6) in Auditing/Accounting/Taxation and 2 - 3 years' tax audit/compliance/verification experience. 

Alternatively

Senior Certificate (NQF 4) and 5 years’ tax audit/compliance/verification experience.

MANAGER: CONTACT CENTRE

About the Position

SARS is looking for a Manager: Contact Centre who is capable and experienced in building teams and great experiences for customers. The successful incumbent must have strong operational contact centre experience - able to manage daily performance, reporting, data, facilities, finance, HR, etc. Meticulous, hands on and driven, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

This individual must have strong leadership skills, an entrepreneurial spirit and an appetite for innovative thinking. S/he must also have strong motivational, coaching and team building skills with an affinity for a tech and systems driven environment.

 

Job Purpose

To support the organisational strategic objectives through efficient and effective management of Contact Centre Operations, manage key performance areas of the Contact Centre tiered operating model, ensuring optimal utilisation of all resources.

 

Education and Experience

 

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree/ Advanced Diploma in Operations Management or Business Administration(NQF 7) AND 8-10 years’ experience in a Contact Centre and/or Customer service environment, of which 3-4 years at a junior management level

Alternative Qualifications

  • Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND  15 years’ experience in a Contact Centre and/or Customer service environment, of which 3-4 years at a junior management level

The Junior Debt Collector will report directly to the Ops Manager: Debt Management and will be based in Welkom and Durban. He/she will be required to deal with Taxpayers’ and their accounts in a professional manner upholding the SARS Values.

Job Purpose

To effectively apply basic knowledge of understanding of debt collection processes on outstanding debt and returns for CIT, PIT, PAYE, and VAT tax types, through face-to-face, virtual and digital platforms, in line with the relevant South African Tax Laws and SARS policies and procedures within specific turnaround times to deliver on the SARS strategic objectives, thereby ensuring enhanced service delivery and compliance, with full guidance.

 

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

Education and Experience

Higher Certificate (NQF 5) in Taxation or Financial Accounting or Law and 2 years’ experience in a debt collections, finance or law environment.

  • Issue Final Demand if the taxpayer remains non-compliant including manual Final Demand when applicable.
  • Navigate SARS systems to extract relevant information and execute work on Service Manager in line with allocated work.
  • Prepare and complete Payment Arrangements for requests for Simplified Deferment request (Up to R5M and less than 6 months) within the specified turnaround times.
  • Profile a taxpayer, interpret statement of account, and engage taxpayers with outstanding debt and outstanding returns.
  • Report on transactional and process activities within set guidelines to provide timely information for decision making.
