Job Purpose

To manage all aspects pertaining to the availability, maintenance and repair of the IT Facilities equipment and environments in all the regions. Ensure optimum availability of IT Facilities, where it can be controlled, should provide site availability at 99% HA of SARS systems within SLA, unless it is deemed to be a planned outage, or access is unavailable.

 

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

  • National Diploma/Advanced Certificate (NQF 6) in engineering (electrical, mechanical,) AND 2-3 years' experience in IT Facilities Management or Built Environment, of which 1-2 years at knowledge worker level

#Alternative

  • Senior Certificate and 5 years of IT Facilities Management or Built Environment experience, of which 1-2 years at acknowledge worker level. 

 

Minimum Functional Requirements:

Trade Test Certificate; Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Certificate; Code EB driver's license.

 

Job Outputs:

Process

  • Accumulate information and provide reports with recommendations applicable to area of specialisation.
  • Apply practical and applied knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.
  • Assist with plan site improvement to improve stability and availability of Air-conditioning systems.
  • Communication of situational interpretation and judgement of work outputs and queries in area of specialisation.
  • Coordinate and assist with all new installations.
  • Correctly apply policies, practices, standards, procedures and legislation in the delivery of work outputs.
  • Effectively plan and schedule own activities to continuously improve quality and service delivery in area of specialisation.
  • Ensure adherence to industry and SARS standards during the installations of ITF infrastructure and ensure that of ITF assets are properly recorded.
  • Ensure efficient maintenance and repair of the IT Facilities equipment in all SARS Datacentres and patch rooms and Buildings in general.
  • Ensure optimal operation of ITF Fire and alarm systems.
  • Ensure optimum availability of IT Facilities equipment (UPS Power, Standby Power, UPS and cooling).
  • Ensure that repairs are promptly handled in a cost-effective manner and to maintain necessary records and operational documentation.
  • Execute process and procedural change, implement the change and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
  • Liaise with vendors and consultants in ensuring system effectiveness for SARS best interest.
  • Perform site assessment to proactively identify any potential challenges and provide assistance and technical advice to business on how to improve the environment.
  • Promptly alert /inform management on problems affecting the operational environment.
  • Provide first line support for Air-conditioning systems.
  • Provide management with reports and information as required an to ensure that Incident and Change management updates.
  • Provide specialist input through the investigation of opportunities for operational and process, product and risk optimisation.
  • Use practical and applied knowledge and situational judgement to arrive at decisions.
