SARS is calling for applications from professionals who wish to serve on its ARC for the term 2026 to 2029, which is subject to renewal at the discretion of the Accounting Authority.
SARS is established in terms of the South African Revenue Service Act, 1997 (Act 34 of 1997) and is a Schedule 3A public entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act 1 of 1999) (as amended).
The ARC is a statutory committee, and candidates are expected to have an advanced understanding of the fiduciary duties as outlined in the Public Finance Management Act, the Companies Act, 2008 (Act 71 of 2008) and the Regulations thereof. SARS supports the King V Code on Corporate Governance and, as such, candidates must be familiar with the responsibilities and obligations as outlined therein.
Qualifications and Experience:
SARS is seeking suitably qualified professionals with a high degree of integrity, ethical leadership, executive leadership competence, and good interpersonal and communication skills who hold postgraduate qualifications in either Chartered Accountancy (SA), Audit (internal and external), Technology and Information Governance, Law and Risk Management and who possess:
- Five years’ experience serving on boards and/or audit committees; and/or
- Five years’ experience practicing in the relevant area of qualification/expertise.
- IoDSA Certification will be an added advantage
Experience in tax law administration will be an added advantage. The appointed members shall receive remuneration in accordance with the rates determined by the Minister of Finance.
OPS MANAGER: CUSTOMS

About the Position
An exciting opportunity is available for an energetic, self-motivated, and dynamic Operations Manager: Customs in Cape Town. The incumbent will be responsible for providing steward leadership and ensuring that all Customs border processes and functions are executed legitimately in terms of Customs & Excise legislation and Standard Operating Procedures.
Furthermore, the applicant must be able to work under pressure, have zero tolerance for corruption, be available to work flexible operational hours and remain professional in dealing with both internal and external stakeholders and clients. The position is in Customs Cargo including Mail Centre Operations.
Job Purpose
To plan, manage and monitor the implementation of Customs activities and end-to-end processes, by managing the internal operations and resources within Customs division, in order to deliver on approved operational plans and to continuously enhance service delivery.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in Business Management, International trade or related field (NQF 7) and 5-7 years' experience in the Customs environment of which 1 year at a supervisory level, with experience in Ports of Entry operations as an added advantage.
#ALTERNATIVE
Senior Certificate (NQF 4) and 10 years’ experience in the Customs & Excise environment, of which 1 year at a supervisory level, with experience in Ports of Entry operations as an added advantage.
