The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a self-motivated individual to effectively assist to ensure that all projects and small infrastructure maintenance work, including fence repairs, signage maintenance, painting and minor construction work and the collection of solid waste is completed according to specification, within the budget and timeframes using the quality assurance standards at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.
This position requires a Grade 10 Job Specific Qualification, or equivalent qualification at NQF 2 with 3 years’ relevant experience or Grade 12, Job Specific Qualification, or equivalent qualification at NQF 4, with two (2) years’ experience in the relevant field of infrastructure maintenance and/or solid waste collection. A Higher Education Qualification or equivalent qualification at NQF 5 will be an added advantage.
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: interpersonal skills; ability to communicate in English (read and write); willingness to learn and take instruction, ability to working in a team and independently, training in brick laying and painting; knowledge of solid waste collection, sorting and disposal; use of various hand tools, equipment and machinery. The possession of a valid code C1 driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience.
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
- Assist in operational functions, and projects;
- Assist in the completion of generalist tasks;
- Assist in Administration and;
- Comply with health and safety requirements.
