MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To produce, present and deliver Afrikaans Audio / Radio News and Current Affairs content and programmes as part of a team that broadcasts, publishes and posts stories that are newsworthy, compelling, accurate, balanced and fair for the target audience
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Initiate and produce Afrikaans Audio / Radio News and Current Affairs content as assigned
- Produce and present Current Affairs programmes, Special Programmes / Broadcasts and Outside Broadcasts
- Identify, initiate, brainstorm, research, plan, record, produce, broadcast, publish and post Current Affairs content and stories that are newsworthy, compelling, accurate, balanced and fair for the target audience
- Plan and deliver the content of identified Current Affairs stories and programmes
- Adhere to the specific language requirements
- Interpret and analyse the undercurrents in and subtexts of stories
- Conduct field, archival and other research
- Conduct interviews and Q&As
- Write / script, translate, voice and package stories in Afrikaans
- Deliver Current Affairs content / programmes on time
- Establish and maintain solid news networks and contacts
- Engage professionally with the target audience to promote and enhance News and Current Affairs, including on social media
- Adhere to South Africa’s Constitution, all laws, ICASA licence conditions and regulations, BCCSA and Press Council codes and rulings, the SABC Editorial Policies, News style guide and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) etc
REQUIREMENTS:
- Afrikaans fluency and proficiency (read, write, translate and speak), including a good command of written and spoken English
- National Diploma (NQF 6) / Degree in Journalism, Media Studies or relevant equivalent qualifications
- 4 years’ experience in an Afrikaans Audio / Radio News and journalism
- Good news sense and attention to detail
- Good news and general knowledge
- Good and clear broadcast voice
- Good understanding and use of social media as a journalistic tool
- Good ability to stay abreast of News and Current Affairs, and related developments
- Sound understanding of current social, economic and political trends
- Good ability to plan, organise and work in a team

JOB PURPOSE
To ensure the accurate and efficient management of airtime inventory and bookings across SABC platforms from receipt of request through to on-air transmission. The role is responsible for coordinating and executing all operational activities related to the preparation, scheduling, and delivery of advertising campaigns, ensuring that all bookings are processed correctly, logs are finalised on time, and broadcast requirements are met in accordance with internal standards, client needs, and governance procedures.
MAIN OBJECTIVES (KEY PERFORMANCE AREA)
JOB OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION - KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR - WEIGHT
BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY
· Process airtime requests accurately and efficiently from receipt through to transmission.
· Create and maintain campaign, product, and industry code records within the airtime management system.
· Manage bookings and ensure accurate scheduling of spots in line with client, platform, and programming requirements.
· Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts or unavailability of airtime, negotiating alternative placements when required.
· Communicate changes such as programme amendments, non-broadcast spots, and cancellations promptly to relevant stakeholders.
· Ensure all logs are checked, finalised, and transmitted within required deadlines to maintain broadcast continuity.
· Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail in all booking and scheduling activities.
· Prepare and issue campaign confirmations and availability reports to clients or Account Executives.
· Coordinate processing of live reads, sponsorships, and special instructions as per approved requests.
· Manage late revisions and ensure updates are accurately reflected in the system and communicated to affected stakeholders.
· Support Ratings Analysts and other internal teams by providing campaign data required for performance monitoring and reporting.
· Address and resolve client or internal queries promptly and professionally.
· Monitor and report on daily limbo spots, re-pricing, cancellations, and compensation adjustments.
· Process added value, goodwill, and compensation bookings in line with relevant approvals and correct discount coding.
· Liaise with the Deals and Finance teams to ensure accurate deal application, correct client accounts, and revenue integrity.
· Track airtime utilisation and support initiatives to optimise inventory usage.

INHERENT REQUIREMENT
FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· A relevant qualification at NQF Level 4/5, or above
EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in airtime management, sales administration, broadcast traffic, or a related scheduling environment.

· Experience with broadcast management systems

PURPOSE:
- The position requires effective and efficient Non Linear editing, sequencing of raw visual and audio footage into a comprehensive final television end product for broadcast and meet customer requirements in support of Video Editing business objectives
BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY
- Assets management tracking
- Maintain above average rating on Service Level Agreement with internal stakeholders
- Provide effective operational support to stakeholders in order to reduce downtime
- Comply with Video Editing stakeholders service standards
- Test Video Editing equipment and ensure that it functions optimally prior to production
- Adhere to SOP when Importing media and checking in projects
- Edit Television Genres (Sports, News Documentaries, Promos, line ups, Talk shows, etc) and ensure no comebacks regarding the video and audio quality of the program
- Provide appropriate video effects to match and enhance the mood of visual material supplied
- Creative input/advice to customer to enhance the nature and the story of the program
- Utilize relevant measuring instruments to check both video and audio levels according to required broadcast specifications
