We are currently seeking applications from dynamic individuals for the following position: 

 

ADVISOR TO THE BOARD CHAIRPERSON 

Salary: All-inclusive remuneration package negotiable 

Centre: Public Investment Corporation, Pretoria 

Contract Term: The appointment is linked to the term of office of the incumbent Chairperson of the PIC Board. 

*Job Grade: C3-D2 

Ref: 09/26 

 

Purpose of the role: 

The Advisor to the Board Chairperson provides independent, professional and analytical support to the Chairperson in the execution of leadership, governance and oversight responsibilities. The Adviser serves in a strictly advisory capacity and does not exercise executive, management or decision-making authority. The role does not replace or diminish the responsibilities of the Board, Board Committees, Chief Executive Officer, Executive Management or the Company Secretary. 

 

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications and experience: 

·       A bachelor’s degree in law, Public Administration, Economics, Finance, Governance or Related discipline. 

·       A minimum of 5-8 years relevant working experience. 

·       Sound understanding of corporate governance principles, fiduciary responsibilities, board effectiveness and oversight practices. 

 

Duties:

Support the Chairperson in preparation for Board and governance meetings by: 

·       Reviewing Board agendas, papers and supporting documentation; 

·       Prepare concise and confidential briefings for the Chairperson on matters requiring Chairperson’s attention; 

·       Support the Chairperson in strategic stakeholder engagements; 

·       Provide independent analytical support to strengthen the Chairperson's oversight responsibilities; 

·       Support the Chairperson in preparing for Board and other significant governance meetings; 

·       Analysing strategic, investment, financial, governance, risk, audit and organisational performance reports; 

·       Identifying significant risks, information gaps, inconsistencies and matters requiring clarification; 

·       Highlighting issues requiring additional evidence or management input; 

·       Identifying strategic questions and discussion points to support effective Board deliberations and decision-making. 

 

Competencies and skills: 

·       Ability to generate pre-Board briefing notes and Board-paper analyses; 

·       Ability to provide strategic and governance briefs; 

·       Independent research and governance risk analysis; 

·       Stakeholder facilitation; 

·       Effective Communication; 

·       Report writing skills.
