Job Description:
Requirements: A grade 12 certificate/NQF level 4 equivalent qualification coupled with at least 3-4 years Control Room environment experience and actively as an Operator ?PSIRA Grade C ? ?Firearm Competency Certificate ? Control room operator training certificate and National Key Point Training certificate an added advantage ? Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL) and applicable knowledge and experience on the Job may be considered during the selection process.
Essential criteria: ? Knowledge of Physical Security Shift Operations ?Communications and report writing skills ?National Key Point Act 102 of 1980 and regulations ?Knowledge of Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995 ?Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1997 and Strategic Intelligence Act. ?Knowledge of South African Constitution ?Knowledge of Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS) ?Basic investigation and interviewing skills ?Supervision, contract and conflict management skills ?Threat and risk assessment ?Problem solving, interpersonal and presentation skills. ?Verbal & written communication skills. ?Planning and organizing ?Customer service, investigative, rule, decisiveness and action orientation.
Key Performance Areas: ? Law Enforcement Administration: Monitoring of Security Surveillance Systems and Equipment: ?Ensure the deployment and daily functioning of security systems (cameras, electric fencing, gates, lighting, access points, computer systems, etc.) to detect and counter any act of intrusion ?Operate, monitor and prioritise the use of CCTV cameras within PSiRA in a proactive/reactive manner, to maintain a safe environment for staff members, assets of PSiRA, visitors and tenants ? To be focused and observant so that whenever they witness something unusual, suspicious or questionable they are able to make detailed note of it ?To operate and respond to all aspects of Control Room Operation including emergency response i.e. Fire and emergency alarm system ?Monitor the fire and intruder alarm systems and pass on via radio or telephone any information necessary to the response officer ?Operates various forms of communication equipment including telephone, computer, intercom system and two-way radio communication systems to achieve and maintain contact with staff ? Process digital viewing requests from the Security manager including internal investigations and issue evidence packs to the police and other authorized agents for evidential purposes ? Conduct quarterly surveillance systems audits and maintenance records. Shift Coordination: ?Ensure proper hand-over procedures from one Shift to the next. (Keep proper records) ?Regular Shift Team appraisals to assess work standards (e.g. uniform), and ethos, wellness issues and team cohesiveness (observe Service Provider Contract with PSiRA).Handling and response to all Security and Safety, Health, Environmental incidents:?Maintain a Security Incidents Reporting Register, where all Security incidents are reported, recorded, actioned, evaluated and preventive measures adopted ?Ensure prompt response to emergencies in line with the PSiRA emergency and response plans.

Requirements: Degree/Diploma in Information Technology/Information Systems/Cybersecurity or equivalent ? coupled with 2-3 years’ experience as IT Cyber Security environment or related role? A Certificate in CompTIA CySA+, ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity will be an added advantage? Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL) and applicable knowledge and experience on the Job may be considered during the selection process.
Essential criteria? Envisaged candidate should possess good oral and written communication skills? Team player? ability to stay abreast of the latest IT and knowledge of Cobit is essential? Key Performance Areas: Monitor SIEM/SOC dashboards, endpoint protection, and security alerts• Perform initial analysis and triage of security incidents• Escalate confirmed or suspected threats according to PSIRA’s incident response procedures• Track and document incidents, alerts, and actions taken• Assist in containment actions under guidance (e.g. isolating endpoints, disabling accounts)• Collect logs, evidence, and system information for investigations• Support post-incident reviews and reporting• Assist with maintenance of security tools (SIEM, DLP, EDR, firewalls)• Validate that security agents are installed and operational on endpoints• Support vulnerability scanning activities and track remediation progress• Assist with access reviews and RBAC checks• Maintain accurate security logs, incident records, and reports• Support internal and external audits by gathering required evidence• Assist in ensuring adherence to ISO27001, POPIA, and NIST CSF controls• Participate in cybersecurity awareness campaigns and phishing simulations• Follow documented playbooks, procedures, and security standards• Continuously develop technical and analytical skills through training and mentorship.

Key Performance Areas: Independently investigate security alerts from SIEM, SOC, EDR, DLP, and firewall platforms• Perform in-depth analysis to determine root cause, scope, and impact of security incidents• Execute containment, eradication, and recovery actions in accordance with incident response procedures• Lead incident handling activities up to defined escalation thresholds• Mentor and guide Security Analyst Level 1 staff during investigations • Administer and maintain security platforms including SIEM, DLP, endpoint protection, IDS/IPS, and firewalls• Tune detection rules, correlation logic, and alert thresholds to reduce false positives and improve detection accuracy• Ensure security tools are operational, updated, and aligned with best practice configurations• Assist with secure configuration reviews aligned to CIS Benchmarks and Microsoft Security Baselines• Conduct regular vulnerability scans across systems, networks, and endpoints• Analyse vulnerability findings, prioritise risks, and track remediation activities• Validate remediation of high and critical vulnerabilities within agreed SLA timelines• Participate in security risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures• Ensure security operations align with ISO27001, POPIA, and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework• Maintain accurate incident records, investigation reports, and risk documentation• Prepare operational security reports for management and audits• Support internal and external audits by providing evidence and implementing corrective actions• Support cybersecurity awareness initiatives and phishing simulations• Contribute to the development and improvement of security procedures and playbooks• Stay informed on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and defensive techniques.

Key Performance Areas: Oversee daily SOC operations, ensuring continuous monitoring of security systems and alerts• Act as the primary incident commander for significant or high impact security incidents• Ensure incidents are correctly triaged, investigated, escalated, and resolved within defined SLAs• Coordinate incident response activities across IT, management, vendors, and external stakeholders• Ensure post-incident reviews are conducted and corrective actions implemented• Lead, mentor, and supervise Security Analysts (Level 1 & Level 2)• Allocate workloads, shifts, and on-call responsibilities within the SOC •Review analyst investigations, reports, and decision-making for quality and accuracy• Identify skills gaps and coordinate training, coaching, and development plans• Foster a disciplined, accountable, and high-performance SOC culture• Oversee the effective operation of SOC tools including SIEM, SOAR (if applicable), EDR, DLP, IDS/IPS, and firewalls• Ensure detection rules, playbooks, and escalation procedures are documented, maintained, and improved• Drive reduction of false positives and improvement of detection accuracy• Coordinate onboarding of new security technologies into SOC operations• Ensure SOC processes align with zero-trust and defence-in-depth principles• Manage and oversee outsourced SOC, firewall, or security service providers• Validate service delivery against SLAs and contractual obligations •Review third-party incident reports, investigations, and recommendations • Escalate service delivery risks or failures to management• Ensure SOC operations comply with ISO27001, POPIA, and NIST CSF requirements• Prepare and present SOC performance reports, incident trends, and risk insights to management• Support internal and external audits by providing SOC-related evidence and remediation plans• Ensure accurate logging, documentation, and record-keeping across SOC.
