JOB SUMMARY

Parliament of South Africa is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled and detailed-driven candidate to serve as an Intergovernmental & Stakeholder Relations Specialist to the Secretary to Parliament. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing strategic intergovernmental relations, stakeholder liaison, research, intelligence and executive support to the Secretary to Parliament by coordinating institutional relationships, strategic engagements and partnerships, and enabling informed decision-making through stakeholder intelligence, analysis and monitoring of commitments arising from intergovernmental, inter-sectoral and international forums.

 

Key Performance Area:

  1. Intergovernmental Relations and Stakeholder Liaison Support
  2. Internal and External, Local and International Strategic Engagement Coordination, Dedicated Liaison and Executive Support

To Qualify, You Must Have:

  • Honours Degree / Postgraduate Diploma in Political Studies / Public Management / Public Relations / LLB or related qualifications at (NQF Level 8)
  • An MBA or related Master's Degree in Public Administration / Public Management / LLM will be advantageous.
  • 5 years' relevant Intergovernmental and Stakeholder Relations Management experience, including strategic research, analysis, and intelligence experience.

 

This position is subject to a probationary period of 6 months

Parliament is seeking a capable and dynamic legal professional to serve as the Chief Legal Adviser. The ideal candidate will be responsible to serve as the principal legal counsel to the Parliament by providing strategic, expert and objective legal advice to support the constitutional and legislative mandate of Parliament. The Chief Legal Adviser plays a key role in advising the Secretary to Parliament on matters relating to the administration and litigation, and the Presiding Officers and Committees of Parliament. The incumbent will play a critical role in advising parliamentary leadership, committees and members on the Constitutionality of legislation, Parliamentary decisions and the legal implications of decisions made within the Parliament.

 

Key Performance Area:

  • Provide Strategic Planning and Management of the Constitutional and Legal Services
  • Provide Legal Advice and Support to Parliament (Houses, Presiding Officers and Committees), Executive Authority, and the Secretary to Parliament

To Qualify, You Must Have:

  • LLB Degree at an NQF Level 8
  • A Master’s Degree in Law (LLM) is highly advantageous. Specialisation in Constitutional Law or Public Law will be a distinct advantage.
  • A minimum of 10 years' post-admission legal advisory or legal practice experience, of which at least 5 years must have been in a Public Service environment and at an executive level.
  • Admission as an Advocate with the Right of Appearance in the High Court of South Africa.

JOB SUMMARY

The Languages Services provide the mechanism to engage all citizens through the translation of Parliamentary documents, and interpreting services to the Houses during plenaries, Committee proceedings, public hearings, and oversight visits, and a record of parliamentary debates through Hansard reporting for the Houses of Parliament.


Language Services contributes to the strategic goal of meaningful involvement and participation by citizens and all interest groups by ensuring the availability of all official languages during parliamentary proceedings, public hearings, oversight visits, and the consultation process. This includes feedback mechanisms for engagement with the public and interest groups, particularly the marginalised and vulnerable groups.


The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Hansard Reporting and editing, interpreting, and translation services to Parliament. Also responsible for coaching and mentoring of Language Practitioners and quality assurance and checking of work performed by practitioners and or peers.

 

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

TO QUALIFY, YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 with IsiXhosa as a Major Subject, plus a Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Related Qualification in Languages with Applicable Majors at NQF Level 7. Please include Qualification Transcripts along with your Certificates.
  • 5 years of Language Practitioner experience, having rendered Translation, Transcribing, and Interpreting Services within a Similar Environment.
