Salary Range R 549 749.29 – R 646 763.87 per annum (all inclusive)
Overview of the Organisation
The NMISA is a Type 3A Public Entity established in accordance with the Measurement Unit and Measurement Standards Act, No. 18 of 2006 (the Act). The NMISA is mandated by the Act to provide for the use of the international system of units (the SI) and other measurement units in South Africa, to maintain national measurement standards (NMS) and to determine and ensure the comparability of the NMS. The Position
The incumbent plays a pivotal role in giving proper input to design, development, implementation, support and management of Business Intelligence Systems. To maintain the NMISA network, infrastructure, architecture, administration and support of Microsoft servers and services. He/she must have a passion for precision and excellence, who has an excellent understanding of Information and Communication Systems and a willingness to learn. The successful incumbent will be responsible for Microsoft-related issues as well as supporting and maintaining all computer-based systems, users, networks, servers, and Printers where necessary. Provide day-to-day support for the internal user base.
Requirements:
· A bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in information technology or a related field.
· A minimum of 5 years’ experience in organizational day-to-day Server administration with experience in computer and network troubleshooting.
· Extensive experience in an IT and Support related field.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Good understanding of security architecture, frameworks, and tools, ensuring the robustness and integrity of the organisation's IT systems, data, and networks.
· Experience in managing vendor relationships and ensuring that IT services and solutions meet the organisation's needs and standards.
· Hands on experience in the following: System Administration of Virtual Server Environment (Windows and Linux), VMware, Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, file services, Veeam Backup & Replication, configuring and managing Fortinet FortiGate Firewalls, including VPNs, firewall policies, and network security.
· Experience in administering Microsoft 365, Outlook, OneDrive, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Intune, Dynamics 365, SharePoint On-Premises and Online, Teams, Cloud Based Hosting.
· Knowledge of disaster recovery, backup and recovery systems, with implementation experience.
· Experience with Microsoft Certificate Services (AD CS), PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), certificate templates, CRLs (Certificate Revocation Lists), and OCSP.
· Experience developing and supporting automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate (Power Flow).
· Troubleshooting and supporting Computer hardware, software systems, programs and computing networks.
· Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP and VLANs.
· Be proficient in setting up systems to detect and prevent computer viruses and unauthorised network intrusion (cybersecurity).
· Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
· Microsoft Certified Windows Server, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Fortinet NSE/FCP, Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent is essential.
· ITIL Foundation, COBIT Foundation, Network+, A+ and Security+ certification or equivalent is advantageous.
Responsibilities:
· Install, configure, and maintain NMISA’s Virtual Server Environment (Windows and Linux servers) and manage virtualization platforms such as VMware.
· Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file services.
· Manage and maintain Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), including approving, deploying, and monitoring Microsoft security patches and updates.
· Plan, test, and implement server patches and updates using WSUS in accordance with change management procedures.
· Manage the complete lifecycle of SSL/TLS certificates, including requesting, installing, configuring, renewing, and troubleshooting certificates for web servers, applications, and services. Monitor certificate expiry dates, ensure timely renewals to prevent service disruptions.
· Monitor server performance and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
· Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Fortinet Firewalls (FortiGate), including firewall policies, VPNs, NAT, security profiles, and network security.
· Support Microsoft 365, Teams, Intune and Azure environments where applicable.
· Implement and maintain endpoint security, antivirus, and access controls.
· Responsible for contract and license renewals and procurement of all related IT systems and services.
· Administer and maintain the email security platform, including email security policies, spam and malware protection, URL and attachment protection, email continuity, archive management, and user administration.
· Ensure all backups are configured and maintained in line with the NMISA IT’s Backup Schedule.
· Initiate and facilitate technical exercises for disaster recovery to comply with NMISA’s Business Continuity Plan.
· Administer and support the organization's RFID asset tracking system, ensuring the accurate tracking, monitoring, and management of IT and business assets.
· Administer, maintain, and provide technical support for the organization's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring system availability, performance, security, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
· Implement, and maintain automated business workflows using Microsoft Power Automate (Power Flow) to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
· Administer and support the NMISA’s security awareness and phishing simulation platform. Manage user provisioning, training campaigns, phishing simulations, and reporting to improve organizational cybersecurity awareness.
· Provide end-user technical support of software, systems, networking, and hardware.
· Perform routine administrative and maintenance tasks on hardware.
· Document and maintain effective procedures for your environment and ensure compliance with IT policies.
· Monthly reports for all facets of your environment.
· Mentoring interns to provide effective support to the NMISA and the Human Capital Development Plan.
Person Specification:
We are looking for a dynamic, positive thinking individual, who can manage complexity, have planning and organising skills, is resilient and customer service orientated. A unique individual with leadership and interpersonal skills who can communicate at all levels. Excellent writing skills and fluency in English. The candidate must have the ability to work both as part of a team and independently. The position further requires professionalism when dealing with customers and colleagues, plus a level of excellence that goes above and beyond the commercial considerations and legal requirements.
