NATIONAL ENERGY REGULATOR (NERSA)
The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) is a regulatory authority established as a juristic person in terms of section 3 of the National Energy Regulator Act, 2004 (Act No. 40 of 2004). NERSA’s mandate is to regulate the electricity, piped-gas and petroleum pipeline industries in terms of the Electricity Regulation Act, 2006 (Act No. 4 of 2006), the Gas Act, 2001 (Act No. 48 of 2001) and the Petroleum Pipelines Act, 2003 (Act No. 60 of 2003). The structure of the Energy Regulator consists of nine members, five of whom are part time and four, full time, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Energy Regulator is supported by a secretariat under the direction of the CEO. NERSA wishes to recruit personnel with appropriate competencies in the following areas:
ACCOUNTANT: ASSET MANAGEMENT

Salary package: R652 858.00 – R939 971.00 per annum (CTC)

Requirements: * A Bachelor’s Degree / B Tech Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) Accounting Science (BCompt) as recognized by SAQA * Minimum Four (4) years relevant working experience in Financial Accounting as well as Asset Management.
The candidate must be competent in the following: * As per National Treasury Training Requirements * Sound Knowledge of PFMA * GRAP /IFRS * Analytical Skills * Project Management Skills * Process Driven * Attention to detail * Communication (Written and Verbal) Skills * Service Delivery Skills * Report Writing Skills * Presentation Skills.
Purpose: Reporting to the Head of Department: Financial Management and Governance, the incumbent will render management, maintenance and safeguarding of assets and support to the Head of the Department.
Key responsibilities: The successful incumbent will be responsible for: ASSETS MANAGEMENT: - New acquisition of assets (barcode & capture on Fixed Asset Register) * Movement of assets (update the Fixed Asset Register with approved movement forms) * Physical verification of all NERSA assets and ensure the inventory lists signed off by all users * Monthly reconciliation of the Fixed Asset Register to the General Ledger* Monthly depreciation Calculation * Disposal of assets * Ensure audit readiness for Assets * Management of the internal and external transfer of assets * Maintenance of the Asset Register and Inventory List * Resolving all queries and issues relating to assets * Reporting on assets * Coordinate the Insurance process * DEBTORS FUNCTIONS: - Ensuring that all debtors are invoiced timeously * Follow up on accounts debtors * Processing interest on overdue accounts *OTHER FUNCTIONS: - Assist with the payment process * Tracking the policies and procedures for FAD for review and updates * Assist with the development and review of all Finance procedure manuals * Assist with the identification of key financial risks and developing appropriate internal controls to mitigate identified risks * Conducting random compliance spot checks to ensure adherence to the system of Internal Controls * Assist with co-ordination of both the Internal and External Audit Processes * Assist in any tasks requested by HOD.
