Reports To: Registrar

Contract Type: 3-year fixed-term contract

Total Remuneration Package: R 555 647.21 per annum

 

The National Consumer Tribunal (NCT) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Communications Assistant who will provide administrative and operational support across all internal and external communication activities. The role assists with the layout and distribution of materials, basic content drafting, brand alignment checks, event coordination, diary management, and digital updates. It ensures that communication processes run smoothly and consistently, enabling the effective delivery of messages and engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Communication Administration 

1. Support the execution of day-to-day communications activities.

2. Assist with the layout, formatting, and design of newsletters, posters, emails, and invitations.

3. Check and ensure all communication materials align with brand guidelines.

4. Assist in preparing and formatting internal announcements and stakeholder materials.

5. Ensure communication templates are consistently applied and updated.

 Content and Editorial Support 

1. Draft basic content for internal newsletters and announcements.

2. Assist with proofreading and formatting of documents, presentations, and reports.

3. Edit and layout stakeholder reports received from meetings for consistency and quality.

 Event and Stakeholder Coordination 

1. Coordinate logistics for internal and external events, including bookings and materials.

2. Assist with diary and calendar management for stakeholder-related meetings.

3. Collect and consolidate feedback or reports following stakeholder engagements.

 Digital Platforms and Media 

1. Support the updating and maintenance of website and social media content.

2. Assist with media monitoring and compiling weekly reports on media coverage.

3. Ensure timely posting and brand-compliant formatting of digital materials.

 Supplier and Logistics Liaison 

1. Liaise with external service providers for communication-related needs.

2. Follow up on service deliverables to ensure timely and quality execution.

3. Maintain a list of approved suppliers and assist in procurement coordination.

 General Administration 

1. Provide administrative support across all communication functions.

2. Maintain filing, tracking documents, and shared communication resources.

3. Assist with meeting coordination, agenda setting, and minute taking as needed.

 

 Requirements 

1. Minimum NQF Level 6 – Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or other relevant qualification.

2. NQF Level 7 – A degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or other relevant qualification will be advantageous.

3. Driver’s License.

4. 2–3 Years of experience in communications.

5. The successful incumbent must have knowledge of Internal Communication Processes, Branding and Style Guidelines, Basic Content Creation, Media Monitoring Tools, Stakeholder Engagement Protocols, and Website and Social Media Updates.

6. The successful incumbent must have skills in Document Formatting Accuracy, Calendar Coordination, Event Planning Basics, Email and Layout Design, Proofreading and Editing, and Report Compilation Support, and must demonstrate behavioural attributes that include being Supportive, Organised, Reliable, Attentive, Detail-Oriented and Professional.
