CHIEF CORPORATE SUPPORT OFFICER

FIVE YEARS PERFORMANCE BASED CONTRACT

(SALARY PACKAGE BASED ON TOTAL COST TO COMPANY) PATERSON GRADE E-1

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To provide Corporate Support Services to the entire Corporation and the best practice design and delivery of integrated Human Capital, Corporate Communications and Business Development and Information Technology (ICT) solutions inclusive with a clear value proposition to the Corporation.

 

 

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: • To provide visionary and creative leadership, direction and total commitment to the Mayibuye Transport Corporation to ensure the provision of leading-edge Corporate Services associated with Human Resources, ICT, Communications and Business Development. • Provide the utmost support in assisting the Chief Executive Officer and the Board to achieve its vision for the corporation, that values diversity protects the environment and makes decisions today that will enhance the future of MTC. • Provide effective leadership, guidance and support to managers and staff to ensure the effective promotion of MTC goals and principles for governance actions directed towards achieving success in delivering the objectives of the MTC strategy. • Advise the CEO and the Board on issues relating to strategic corporate services activities including short- and long-term objectives, customer service, trends, forecasts and minimisation of any impacts that will ensure the development, implementation and achievement of MTC's strategy. • Assist in the shaping of strategic organisational thinking which inspires a sense of purpose and direction, developing a strategic management focus and recognising opportunities that will enhance MTC's capacity to provide cutting edge quality customer service by utilising sound judgement, intelligence and common sense. • Cultivate productive working relationships at all levels, which support the nurturing of internal and external relationships, facilitates cooperation trust and respect values differences and diversity that guides, mentors and focuses on the development of people. • Display professional expertise, develop and oversee the implementation of change initiatives and obtain closure and delivery in achieving results, being committed to communicating with influence through clear and precise communication and adopting a listening, understanding and adaptable approach. • Value specialist expertise and place emphasis upon creating an environment which facilitates the sharing and effective utilisation of professional knowledge and skills including obtaining and utilising relevant input of professional advice from others. • Ensure the review and implementation of organisational development strategies for workforce planning and the development of MTC staff. • Manage the corporate service strategy and policy development by identifying issues that affect business results and the delivery of quality sustainable development of programs and services. • Adhere to MTC Occupational Health and Safety Policy including assuming responsibility for the proper use of all safeguards, safety devices, personal protective equipment and other equipment provided for safety purposes. • Practice and promote MTC's policy on Equal Opportunity, Harassment and Bullying principles by treating staff and customers fairly and equitably and without discrimination, harassment or bullying. • Promote a positive image of corporation to members of the public through professional standards, personal presentation and through the provision of services/advice in a courteous and efficient manner. • Manage and drive MTC's risk management policy and programs, including the application of sound risk management practices within Corporate Services. • Oversee the performance of direct reports including the establishment of key performance indicators and work plans designed to achieve the prime objectives and responsibilities of the Corporate Services function. • Ensure the effective management of the Corporate Services Team to ensure the delivery of best value quality services, effective forward planning, meeting of objectives, management of priorities and the appropriate delegation of responsibilities. • Assess the performance of managers ensuring opportunities for their personal and career development and the management of any performance issues that need to be addressed. • Oversee the development and implementation of MTC's ICT Strategy and Business Continuity Plan. • Oversee the development and implementation of MTC's Corporate Communications, Public Relations and Business Development Strategies and Business Continuity Plans. • Oversee the compilation of accountability reports (both statutory and non-statutory.

 

QUALIFICATION(S) AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • An appropriate post-graduate Qualification in Social Sciences • Advanced Business Knowledge • Completion of a Management or Executive Development Programme (will be strong recommendation); • 3 year's relevant experience in a senior management and/or executive level in-charge of two or more of the functions within Corporate Services.

 

OTHER ATTRIBUTES: • Ability to lead, guide and manage people including the implementation of cultural change and change management opportunities. • Knowledge of commercial and business management strategies and practices. • Sound knowledge of legislation and procedures related to the organisation, people and industry. • Ability to plan, set and achieve goals and key responsibilities • Highly developed policy formulation and analytical evaluation skills. • Highly developed people management and interpersonal skills. • Highly developed communication and change management skills. • Ability to utilise participative management practices and adopt a supportive, stimulating management style to achieve quality outcomes. • Ability to project manage activities and major projects within the Corporate Services department, using a proactive leadership style that encourages participation and effort from others. • Ability to develop and maintain effective networks with company and industry colleagues including the Board and the customers. • Thorough knowledge of legislation related to Occupational Health and Safety • Thorough knowledge procedures and processes related to Equality, non-discrimination and harassment in the workplace. • Thorough knowledge of branding, corporate communications, public relations, marketing and business development • Knowledge of the implementation of risk management strategies and management control measures • Knowledge of the implementation of performance management, discipline and employee development. • Thorough knowledge of team effectiveness and the ability to develop effective and cohesive teams. • Thorough knowledge of performance evaluation, career development, study assistance, performance improvement and intensification strategies. • Strategic knowledge of ICT and how it is integrated to give effect to organisational effectiveness. • Diverse managerial skills and ability to coordination cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams. • Exceptional report writing skills, quality management and knowledge of statutory reporting requirements of the corporation.
