INVESTMENT ANALYST x2 

SALARY: MARKET RELATED 

 

KZN Growth Fund Agency is development financier focusing on private equity and private debt Fund based in Durban reporting to the KwaZulu Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA). The Agency seeks to appoint experienced and suitably qualified Investment Analysts. 

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the successful candidates will work autonomously and support the investment team in financial modelling and analysis, conducting due diligence on prospective investments, assisting in preparing investment proposals and post-investment management. In a value accretive way, the incumbent is expected to assist in presenting findings on investments together with remedial actions to both the investee companies’ management and the KZNGFA. 

 

Key performance areas: 

·       Financial analysis and modelling; 

·       Preparation of investment memoranda for internal and external use; 

·       Conducting financial and other business-related research; 

·       Conducting due diligences on prospective investments; 

·       Assistance in the execution of transactions and 

·       Post investment management and reporting. 

 

The following minimum requirements must be met in order to be considered for this position: 

·       Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Investment Management or related filed; 

·       Relevant Honours Degree or Postgraduate qualification is advantageous; 

·       Minimum 3 years’ experience in the role; 

·       Knowledge in Credit Analysis, Financial Modelling, Corporate Finance, Banking/DFI exposure; 

·       Transaction advisory or related analytical role

KZN Growth Fund Agency is development financier focusing on private equity and private debt Fund based in Durban reporting to the KwaZulu Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA). The Agency seeks to appoint experienced and suitably qualified Investment Officers. 

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the successful candidates will be responsible for sourcing and screening investment opportunities, executing and closing transactions and actively managing portfolio investments. The role requires individuals that are driven by their commitment to contribute to private sector development, broad-based black economic empowerment and improving the lives of people in KwaZulu Natal by executing innovative, developmental, and profitable investments for the KZNGFA. 

 

Key performance areas: 

·       Dear origination and screening; 

·       Credit and risk assessment; 

·       Debt and equity structuring and repayment profiling; 

·       Strong financial modelling and analysis; 

·       DSCR and sensitivity analysis; 

·       Due diligence coordination and execution; 

·       Term sheet and legal documentation interpretation; 

·       CP tracking and contracting 

·       Security and covenant understanding; 

·       Investment memo and report writing; 

·       Stakeholder and client relationship management; 

·       Development impact assessment; 

·       Project planning and execution management 

·       Managing medium to large transactions 

·       Quarterly reporting to various committees 

 

The following minimum requirements must be met to be considered for this position: 

·       An Honours Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Investment Management, Business Science or related field; 

·       A post-graduate qualification such as CA (SA), CFA, Equivalent or MBA or project finance training would be advantageous; 

·       At least 5-8 years’ experience in project finance, corporate finance, credit banking, DFI lending, M&A, Boutique Transaction Advisory, infrastructure finance or related deal-execution environment; 

·       Investment proposal methodologies; 

·       Understanding of legal agreements and security structures; 

·       Portfolio risk monitoring; 

·       Data analysis and interpretation
