TOWN PLANNER 

DIRECTORATE: PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT 

Task Level 14: R to 572 160 R742 656 (Basic Salary) 

R915 744 to R1 136 206 (Total Cost to Council Package per annum) 

(PERMANENT APPOINTMENT)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: 

·       B Degree/ National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning 

·       2 - 5 years’ relevant experience in a Town Planning environment 

·       1 year work experience in a town planning environment in a Municipal environment will be an added advantage 

·       Own vehicle and valid Code B driver’s license 

·       Proof of registration or working towards registering as a Professional Planner with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) 

·       Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation 

·       Computer literate and in Microsoft Office package 

·       Be prepared to work overtime and attend meetings after normal office hours when required 

·       Proficiency in English and at least one other official language of the Western Cape 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 

·       Processing and making recommendations on Land Use Applications 

·       Enforcement of Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Legislation 

·       Supervision of Staff 

·       Accurate communication and dissemination of functional and operational information on spatial planning matters 

·       Report writing
