JOHANNESBURG WATER
ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER
REMUNERATION: R431 688 BASIC SALARY PER ANNUM
PURPOSE:
Monitor and ensure compliance with the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 (NEMA), National Water Act 36 of 1998 (NWA), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations 2017 (as amended) and Johannesburg Water Environmental Management System (EMS) and other applicable legislations and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor and ensure compliance with the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998. Constant monitoring of compliance Johannesburg Water (JW) construction sites and depots. Ensure that Wastewater treatment works comply with the conditions of Water Use Licenses (WUL) and applicable Environmental Authorizations (EA) and enforce requirements of the waste management strategy and other environmental framework. Ensure effective implementation of EMP, EA and WUL; conduct audit in line with EMPS and EAs during construction, ensure proper rehabilitation is conducted prior to site closure, ensure contractors understand the conditions of EMP and EAs and conduct regular awareness. Conduct site specific risk assessments for all environmental related activities within the company, conduct system audits on projects on JW Depots on a quarterly basis as well as ensure that JW sites meet their objectives and targets. Advice contractors on all environmental requirements in line with specific projects, conduct environmental awareness on new workers appointed by contractors and ensure that contractors adhere to all environmental assessments and audits on all JW construction sites and depots. Compile inspection and audit reports and follow up on audit findings identified. Conduct environmental incident evaluation, investigations, and reporting. Record all incidents, advise on mitigation measures/rehabilitation processes for incidents that occurred as well as providing environmental inputs in the process audits. Attend project (planning, design, progress, site, and handover) meetings and monthly Safety, Health and Environmental meetings in JW depots.

ADMINISTRATOR SHE
REMUNERATION: R334 524 BASIC SALARY PER ANNUM
PURPOSE:
Responsible for providing administrative support to the Managers and the team
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide and deliver services effectively as per identified needs and planned programme. Participate in internal audit and external audits. Participate in risk assessments. Ensure that all relevant documents are up-to-date and reflect in the management systems. Administrate corrective and preventive actions within the relevant governance framework. Provide support to SHE committees where relevant. Communicate safety topics to the workforce on monthly basis. Create and maintain effective office administrative systems and processes. Create and maintain effective information management Systems and processes. Ensure effective relations with the SHE function and other stakeholders. Support departmental governance and service management structures. Provide inputs during developing of corrective actions arising from internal and external audits relating to SHE administration where relevant.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Safety Management or Environmental Health /Management/Sciences
- 2 years proven administrative experience
- Experience as a SHE Rep or any safety /health/environment related exposure

GIS DATA COORDINATOR
REMUNERATION: R495 300 BASIC SALARY PER ANNUM
PURPOSE:
Supervise Data Capture staff and GIS Operator staff as well as co-ordinate the capturing of water and sewer infrastructure into the GIS database. Provide training and support to all Johannesburg Water GIS users.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the daily tasks and activities of the data capture and GIS operator staff. Assign workload to data capture staff and GIS operators. Develop and manage data capturing processes and procedures. Ensure as-built information is available to subordinates. Supervise the collection of information at inception and implementation phases of GIS projects. Implement standard operating procedures and processes for the section. Ensure that the database is maintained. Ensure the integrity of data before posting to the database. Provide training and support on the use of the GIS. Perform administrative and general duties to promote productivity and service delivery. Liaise and consult with internal departments. Compile scheduled reports and statistics for senior management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- National Diploma in (GIS) or equivalent NQF Level 6
- Minimum of (3) years’ experience in GIS environment with a sound understanding of GIS and database management

MANAGER: WATER LOSS
REMUNERATION: R1 313 628 TOTAL COST TO COMPANY PER ANNUM
PURPOSE:
To systematically reduce the Physical Loss components of Unaccountable for Water
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and oversee the Pressure Management and maintenance activities of the UFW teams in the regions. Identify and quantify risks associated with such activities and inform the relevant Operations department. Manage and ensure that water samples are taken and delivered to the laboratories for water quality analysis to ascertain whether leaks are resulting from the water reticulation system or ground water. Develop sound mechanism for recovering money owed to JW. Co –ordinate efforts of Legal department and Customer Services. Assess condition of hydrants and report findings to relevant region. Investigate problem areas and, on an annual basis, advise CAPEX of future Water mains upgrade/replacement. Investigate and report on the benefits of installing pressure management equipment, retro-fitting devices and other Water Demand Management strategies. Manage the sections vehicles according to the JW Vehicle Management Policy. Manage and ensure that identified critical spares and equipment are available. Manage, develop and motivate personnel towards the achievement of the section’s goals and objectives. Provide necessary information for internal and external auditors. Implement changes required Provide necessary information for internal and external auditors. Develop, Implement and maintain SOP’s for operations. Manage, monitor and enforce safety requirements in the workplace according to OHASA.. Submit Capital expenditure estimates (CAPEX) to the Investment Delivery department for the planning and execution of infrastructure development. Create Purchase requisitions, and GRN’S (Goods Receive Note)as per Procurement Policies and Procedures. Liaise with consultants, external/internal auditors, contractors and suppliers on an ad hoc basis to ensure that all outsourced work is completed within agreed timeframes and advise JW: Communications Department on developing a strategy for Water Loss Programmes. Participate in strategic management mechanisms of the General Manager: Operations. In conjunction with the various Regional Managers, identify the backlogs of the current Water Network as well as the upgrading/extension requirements in order to meet future demands. Promote inter-departmental co-operation and co-ordination on Water Conservation and Water Demand Management initiatives. Facilitate and coordinate monthly Water Conservation and Water Demand Management Committee meeting. Bulk Water Meter Management (RW SIV Analysis). Implement SLA for cross boarder meters

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driving the identification, evaluation, and implementation of innovative technologies and solutions that enhance operational efficiency, sustainability, and service delivery. Leading and supporting innovation projects from research and concept development through piloting, implementation, monitoring, and post-implementation evaluation. Conducting research, feasibility studies, and technical assessments to identify solutions to operational challenges and emerging business needs.
